After putting in a lot of work in sunny California, Sammattick the Rebel unleashes his debut album titled “Rebelution.” This brand new full length album definitely carries an all around polished sound and Sammattick gives the listener an all access pass to his life. Tapping into the day to day angst (literally on track 6 – Fuck a 9-5) that we all feel, Sammattick raps his ass off, like…dude can rap. He takes on the government, the industry, and institutions in general. Lyrically, he’s clever and flows with ease, you can also hear the West Coast influence. He reminded my of DJ Quik a couple of times.
My project is a product of my reality – true stories of my life. I don’t sell music I sell hope,” says Sammattick. “Hope to change the world with believing that you can be and do whatever you want if you really want it. Be a leader of your own brand, be a Rebel!
From the city of angles, he’s writing his own scripture of our youth with poetic versus. Backed by keys, synths, guitars, and a few of his wise men, N.i., SL6, Artistick, Z from Firing Squad, and Caleb Khari, the Rebel goes hard on tracks like, “Message to the industry” and “Arch Your Back,” then touches a more personal note on “Live This One” and the heavy rotation ready “Alter Ego’s.”
A stand out to me is track 2 “Holy Batmans.” This is a 48 bar, non-stop, old school, throwdown, over a minimal Hip-Hop track with some nice scratch work (always points with me). I love classic “watch me rap” tracks and this one is no exception. Rebel to Rebel, I had to see what was inside Sammattick’s head so I hit him up to answer a couple questions for us.
Sammattick, can you describe the L.A. vibe?
The L.A. vibe is very dope and a huge play ground for me in my career filled wit so much talent, I love it from the weather, to the women and overall night life. Its just a beautiful place to live in.
The new album is called “Rebelution,” tell us about that title?
Rebelution stands for a world of rebels being and doing as they please, basically setting there own trends being original, and not being a follower. I roll as a leader, leading leaders.
Who are you listening to right now?
I mostly listen to myself cause I’m always working, but sometimes I listen to a lot of Chance The Rapper, G-Eazy, Modsun and Logic in my down time.
What are you summer 2015 plans?
Summer 2015 I plan to hit the road for a nationwide tour and perform never before seen shows and songs that everyone can vibe too and just be themselves, and also just live life to the fullest Rebel style. I hope to make great connections in the industry, while also working on my next project.
“Rebelution” is available for free on Soundcloud and he also just released a new single called “Summertime,” just when we’re all starting to get that fever. The brand new breezy video is above and it also available on iTunes. Young, Hungry and talented Sammattick’s star is on the rise. Watch for him this summer. - Chris Hensley - Souls In Action
The thing that stands out the most to me in “Sammattick The Rebel’s” album, “Rebelution” is the beautiful piano music that serves as a backdrop for some of the songs. It’s as though he could have released a separate album with just instrumentals, and it could have been used as a soundtrack for some kind of sentimental film. As for the rap in general, the style has a very early 90′s feel(a good thing.) Being a fan of the original 60′s show, my favorite jam is probably the second song “Holy Batmans,” which happens to feature a sample from the hit folk tune, “Reach Out In The Darkness” by Friend and Lover. It’s impossible to come up on the 12th track “Man In The Mirror” without thinking it might be some new rap version of the Michael Jackson classic jam of the same name. The two songs are nothing alike though.
Overall, this is a pretty decent collection of hip hop songs with enough variance in style that anyone should be able to find something they like. Sammattick definitely has some speed skills as a rapper, and some of the retro themes he incorporates seem to work with his style. Despite the album’s cover photo and the title, “Rebelution,” I didn’t really pick up on any heavy political sentiments that would turn people off to listening to it.

Hailing from Southern California, up-and-coming rapper Sammattick debuted his first single “Summertime” the other day and it is some great Good Mood Music. The instrumental has a smooth 90′s Boom-Bap feel to it that is bound to stir up some nostalgic thoughts for whoever misses the summer, aka anyone who listens. The visuals on this one depict a summertime party filled with hot chicks, good budz and cold beer – the perfect trifecta that makes any party and every party one that you won’t forget [unless you smoke too much bud]. It's rare that we come across a rapper that steps to the plate and brings the next level. One that encompasses the flavor of the old school and an elevated rap style that shifts and molds to the beat. Rapper Sammattick The Rebel does just that. He is fresh from the Westcoast. California to be exact and he just represents all these styles that we have been looking for. All while bringing a fun, party atmosphere with his latest music video for "Summertime." We are always looking for a party anthem and this one is a gem! Something that you would hear on a Soulection Show. Smooth old school
boom bap jams! - Tilt Mag
C2C: Why did you choose to get into the music industry?
Sammattick: I've chosen to get into the music industry simply because I just love music. It's all that truly makes sense to me in this world. It's always been a part of me to perform and rap. It gets deep, when I have my headphones on with my music blaring, what I do and each step in my life becomes a never ending music video. A soundtrack to life that I add the lyrics to.
C2C: Who are your musical influences?
Sammattick:
My Father B-NEW:
Ever since I could remember, I woke up every morning with him playing the drums and having new songs. I even remember as a kid stealing his note books and trying to rap his stuff at school. He taught my ears to love DJ Quik, Bone Thugs to Prince, Will Smith & Jazzy Jeff. All huge influences. Idk if I would be as good as I am today if my dad never rapped. I mean shit he has never lost a battle
My Brother Neefy:
My Brother called me March 20th 2012 all the way from Texas stating he was starting a label and wanted me to be the first to be on it. I moved straight to Texas for this project and stayed for about 8 months. Every single day I was there helped me sharpen my skills. I developed Sammattick and I really pushed my limits to be the best i could be. I was given 3 takes when I stepped in the booth and was demanded perfection or I couldn't record. He was tough as hell on me, he never cut me a break, but also never gave up on me. It all just made me stronger.
My Uncles James Wright and Anthony Wright:
Uncle James could always play every instrument he touches. He was a vocalist as well as rapper and always used the term we weren't' cut from the same cloth. He made me strive to be one of the greatest.
Uncle Anthony was a genius! He raps in poem form and is metaphors always kept my brain going. Other than my Dad he is one of the smartest men I know. He has always encouraged me to be the best and be my own person. He's always been a big fan of mine.
Chance The Rapper:
Chance The Rapper is a one of a kind human being. I myself resonate with his originality and the way he carries himself. Half the reason I am The Rebel is because he's believed in doing things that have not been done before. Totally being different and thinking outside the box. He's never stopped believing who he is or has forgot his singing mixed in his rap is a key factor. My song "Ciggs And Vapors" has a very similar style to some of his releases.
MGK: Is one of the last of a dying breed of original bad boys in my opinion. The guy has the cleveland's sound and is known for its speed rapping. He made bone thugs proud and inspired a lot of my fast spitting tracks he is the Cobain of Hip-Hop
C2C: How do you define success?
Sammattick: I believe success is the ability to accomplish any goal set with true passion and determination driving it to a never ending peak of greatness within one's perception.
C2C: What have you accomplished so far in your career?
Sammattick: Receiving press from reputable magazines and blogs for my single and music video "Sammattick - Summertime." Officially getting my songs released on itunes and I'll be on Spotify and Beats soon!
C2C: What can we expect from you in 2014?
Sammattick: My music career rising, this is the beginning of a very long climax ahead for years to come. Possible features on MTV outlets worldwide, VH1 and music choice.New music coming soon as well. Mixtape out soon with a sneak preview of the new single. Full EP due out in 2015.
C2C: What do you ultimately want to accomplish in the music industry?
Sammattick: To build an empire and becoming a musical icon. Along with a throw back the 90s!
C2C: What do you like about Coast 2 Coast Live?
Sammattick: What I love about coast to coast is they give you a great opportunity to showcase your talents. Being judged by some of the greatest such as Duane Darock and many more in the industry. Also they give you many opportunities to perfect your craft with their press packages and grab bags and much more. Thanks Coast 2 Coast Live!

Southern California rapper Sammattick just debuted his first single, “Summertime”. Reminiscent of early 90s Boom Bap Hip-Hop, this song is an instant classic that has a true throwback style. Here in California, we’re known for our house parties, and Sammattick’s “Summertime” video highlights just that…girls, alcohol, kush, DJs, pools, and whatever other weird shit comes along. Watch the clip below. - HOF Is Better (Robbie)
Born and raised in Washington State, Sammattick got influenced to music at an early age when his father would play the records of many artist such as DJ Quik, Bone Thugs, Prince, Will Smith & Jazzy Jeff who are all huge influences. Sammattick started rapping at the age of 13, while his father helped perfect his craft he became more serious into pursuing a career in music. After recording a catalog of songs with friends in Washington, he realized how easily he could sustain success in the music industry by moving to California.
While settling into the new city of Victorville, Sammattick hit the ground running uploading a series of singles to Soundcloud. He started to garner attention in the surrounding area of Victorville, California from barbershops and local pop up shops after the release of his hit single “Summertime.” He went on to record an official video to the single that generated a crowd of 200 plus to shoot the video.
“What I have in store for 2015 should be very interesting. I will be releasing my first official project before the year is out. I’m also working on an EP as well, more updates will be coming soon. Also looking to start booking shows in the California area and doing a college tour in the surrounding area as well,” says Sammattick The Rebel.
