I was told about this film project by multi-talented visual artist
Kaori Nik.
She's an up and coming rising star in Chicago and she's a very cool lady. Nik let me know about the makeup opening and she was in charge of whippin' the hair. The video shoot went so well. It was FUN!! I really had a good time for 10 straight hours!! Everything went by smoothly and at a pretty fast rate.
Ruby Yo!
is sooo sweet and sooo nice! She has the most gorgeous cheek bones that I have ever worked on. Her song got me pumped up and helped me snap off on her lovely face. Ruby Yo, Kaori, Lindsey (assistant hairstylist) and the whole 'Fire It Up' team was looking SO FIERCE after I handled my business on their faces. I thanked the producer, Qadree Holmes, over and over again for the amazing opportunity.
He was great to work with!
Here are a few Behind-The-Scenes photos that Kaori Nik & Lindsey took as well as photographer Anthony Aicardi.

Marilyn Camacho AKA Ruby Yo is an force to be reckoned with. She may be strikingly beautiful but upon meeting her you also know that Ruby Yo! is not just a pretty face. This talented actress performs under the name Ruby Yo and is a refreshing new addition to the female hip-hop game without selling her sexy. Ms Camacho is part owner of Urban Theater, a company in Chicago that works to bring brown playwrights and actors to the stage. and is about to celebrate both the opening of the company’s production of ”Fucking A” March 20th and her first performance at South by Southwest Music Festival later this week. I am so in awe of this woman I just had to introduce you to her
How did you get started in music and acting?
At the age of 10 talking to myself in the middle of the night cause I didn’t wanna go to bed, I used to pretend that the couches were people and would have full blown conversations with them, this would take course after I watched Grease for the 150th time and belted every song cause I knew them by heart.
What is your biggest motivation?
My parents. They worked hard to raise and support my 7 other siblings and I when they came over from Puerto Rico, so I do what I do everyday with them in mind, not wanting to let them down…I choose not to give up.What are you most looking forward to at SXSW?
Networking and getting exposed to some new music = hip-hop and rock bands. And I’m also really looking forward to not sleeping for 2 days straight.Who would you most like to work with in the industry?
Ceelo, hands down!! He’s such a beast, he can sing, rap, and write his ass off! I just love him, to work with him would be a dreamWhere are you from and where do you want to go?
I’m from the city that smacks you in the face with its wind and crushed dreams!! LOL.. JUST…KIDDING….. I’m from the south side Chi, Pilsen to Gage Park and I’m going to El Sigundo….. I gotta get…I got, gots, to get it…. And once I do, I’ll know I’m there…Check her out at www.RubyYo.com and follow her on Twitter @TheRubyYo

Bio
Ruby Yo! has been seriously catching a buzz since she hit the Chicago music scene like it was the plague this past year! Non-stop shows, playing at SXSW, packed houses, and with licensing opportunities already knocking on her door; she is the first Latina female emcee/singer to drop a diverse EP that features hiphop, dubstep, spanish rock, and pop from her city. The Rubyx Cube EP is already hot in the streets amongst an ever growing, diverse and millennial fanbase. With influences such as Notorious B.I.G., Missy Elliot, Mary J. Blige, Ivy Queen, Kelis, and Amy Winehouse, she's a powerful presence onstage and off. In the style of Salt-N-Pepa, she has one of the hottest and most diverse of deejays from Chicago, DJ Pascale, providing the soundtrack and interacting with the audience through live MPC playing and spinning.
