"I want to be seen as a whole person and through my music that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to make myself into a whole person and round myself out. That’s what I want people to get from my music or when they think of me." - Ashley Fisher
"I’ve heard before that my music has some darker undertones, like a little bit of a roughness I guess. Every hardship that I've been in has made me the artist that I am now and I’m so thankful for that, really. The most important thing to me is songwriting. I’m a songwriter at heart, and so if I hadn’t been through hard times, struggles, times where you just don’t think anything is going to work out and that you’ve made a huge mistake … If I hadn’t been through that I’d have nothing to write about." - Breanna Grigsby
Seventeen-year-old Roxie Bardo is an accomplishment machine.
A rising pop star and entrepreneur, Bardo has just released her debut EP, "ROXIE," on which she wrote and co-produced every song.
In addition, Bardo also promotes a vegetarian lifestyle and supports human rights efforts. Her latest single, "Don’t Put Me Down," is an anti-bullying anthem.
Did I mention Bardo is from Chattanooga? She attended the Center for the Creative Arts before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams at the age of 14.
Three years later, Bardo is a nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year for the 23rd annual LA Music Awards.
We caught up with her this week via email to discuss her memories of life in Chattanooga, her philosophy as an artist and what else 2013 has in store. - Sean Phipps
When Roxie Bardo was brought to my attention, I was like “hmm…let’s hear how she sounds”. Then once the Crossfire singer’s latest EP started playing I was like, “Wow, this is just wow.” What I’ve been missing out on is a talented seventeen year old sharing her gift and working hard to do so. But don’t let the age stir you. This is not another mediocre pop singer for the minute, Roxie’s melting vocals and get-under-your-skin lyrics will provide enough proof she’s destined to shine on the global stage. I feel honored having her as a guest on EY, especially during a period where she’s busy in the studio working on her debut album. So, do check out her interview as she took the time to answer the questions. - Kai
"Artist on the rise Roxie Bardo is here to prove that the late Aaliyah was right when she said “Age ain’t nothin’ but a number.” With an eclectic sound, thought-provoking lyrics and a rather mature voice, it might stun people that she’s only 17 (song samples are below)." - JSays
