"MuGGz' Intro"

MuGGz personifies what today’s rap community has lost since its beginnings; swag, individuality, intelligence, and above all else, authenticity. MuGGz is not a flashy rapper with a hustle story. He is not a rapper-singer with a pop/rock-and-roll influence. He surpasses the title of “rapper”, MuGGz is a lyricist. Alongside producer and lyricist Tay Dayne (aka Taycelleus) and producer Stizzy D (aka Brickz), there is no stopping them.

"Mixtape Review: MuGGz - Unforgivable Blackness"

The New York rapper MuGGz of LTY Music really impressed me with his newest project "Unforgiveable Blackness". The EP consists of 5 great records, an interlude & one BONUS track! From sampling The Rolling Stones hit song "Gimme Shelter" on 1 Shot to claiming he's the new Jack Johnson on the EP's title track, MuGGZ has some very well-rounded hip-hop music. With his songs being heavily based around samples, he really reinvented the traditional New York hip-hop sound in his own, unique way. And not only does this guy have bars on bars, he has the type of hooks that make you NEED to listen again! - Everydayent

"Closer to the Ground Review"

MuGGz – Closer to the Ground

New York rapper MuGGz is pretty upfront with how he markets himself, specifically avoiding the image of what he calls “a flashy rapper with a hustle story.” No, he’s all about lyricism and authenticity, and he definitely succeeds by combining old-school sound with new-school poetry in his “Closer to the Ground.” The track opens with a piano melody, its minor tones highlighted by rainstorm sound effects, before skipping into a classic hip-hop beat to support the heart of MuGGz’s music: the lyrics. MuGGz raps with a voice indicative of Big Pun and Biggie, both in register and rhythm, and he seems to have landed on the right combination of sound and meaning, using alliteration, puns, and rhymes frequently but rarely just for their own sake. Impressive lines play with multiple pop culture references while maintaining an Aesop Rock-like speed, such as in “You fuckin’ with the next generation/ Jean Luc Picard/ Flow hotter than lightsabering/ that’s word to Luke’s army/ Went from stun straight to kill/ there was hype, now they thrilled.” But MuGGz is also careful not to overwhelm the audience; he weaves in single lines with obvious metaphors to help ground listeners, like “Put my lens back in focus, but I never lost the picture” and “Live life in part with heart on sleeve.” All in all, MuGGz is refreshingly raw, as far as hip-hop goes. His tracks are not over-mixed or auto-tuned, and while there definitely is an art to audio editing, it’s clear that the strength MuGGz seeks to highlight is his writing.

"Best of January"

Trial and Search – MuGGz

MuGGz makes it known that he strives for excellence as a lyricist more than anything else. His style is reminiscent of Biggie and Big Pun, rapping hard over ‘90s R&B chord progressions and effects. “Trial and Search” takes us back to the “old days” of MTV: dark-lit hip-hop videos, melodic background music, and artists who rap about their childhood and social issues. Perhaps our listeners are longing for a bit of that. - Feedbands.com
