Once in a while, familiar elements can come together and lend themselves to something oddly original. When blues, folk, rock, and Americana are the elements in question, R.A. Melendy & The Roots and Fifths are the result. Melendy's songs are crafted as if from another era, and with the dynamic abutment of the Roots and Fifths, he interjects the rawness of the White Stripes with Grateful Dead-esque improvisation and the off-the-rails danger of the Rolling Stones. Their shows are unique, entertaining, and not to be missed.
