Bio

Dubbed as an “agro rap-savant” By nationally respected hip hop writer, and grantland.com contributor Shea Serrano, Rob Gullatte and his music has amassed an intriguing blend of criticism and critical acclaim in regards to the man as well as the music he makes. Gullatte who was born in Texarkana TX, but raised in Houston, Texas's Alief Area, quickly gained a reputation around his immediate area as a force to be reckoned with when it came to rapping. He parlayed a successful battle rap career into his first official mixtape By Any Means, under the name Kritikal. The mixtape would lead to Rob or “kritikal” to performances at historic events such as SXSW, and venues such as Warehouse Live and The House of Blues in Houston TX. In late 2011 he officially changed his name from Kritikal or Krit to Rob Gullatte, this change was highlighted by the Houston Press, and many other blogs and websites around Texas and surrounding regions. His song “The Way Things Are” was featured in the film Natural Selection which was shown at the 2011 SXSW and Roger Eibert’s Eberfest 2011. His video “Trill Hip Hop” released in March 2012 to critical acclaim, the video also appeared in the iconic SPIN magazine’s online blog. In June 2012 he released his controversial body of work aptly titled Abortion:The Project. The album was released via bandcamp.com to critical acclaim, leading to performances in New York City, and St Louis Missouri, shortly after the initial release. The album was rated as the 9th best album of 2012 by the Houston Press, and was featured in a host of other best of lists. Musically, Rob Gullatte is continuing to actively promote Abortion:The Project as well as has his critically acclaimed joint project with fellow Houston Texas artist Show Louis titled The Sophisticated Savages. The project was recently named one of the most underrated releases of 2015, the duo also performed at an official 2015 SXSW event. Gullatte is currently in the process of building his website which will be a multi-media platform to display not only his music and merchandise,  but also delving into his other interest such as journalism, and developing original scripted content for his budding company. He is also working on a new full length project due to be released sometime in late 2015. His motto is simple "Defying em our job, we don't make odds and judging by all of the obstacles he has been able to overcome, you can rest assure that Rob Gullatte becoming a household name is a near certainty.
