SAN ANGELO — Before singer Rita Capuchina of San Angelo heads off to Chicago next month to record her first album, the country artist took time to answer 20 questions with the San Angelo Standard-Times.

Capuchina recently released her first single, "So in Love with You," a song originally written by her producer, Blanca Granados of Ecstatic X Entertainment, for her sister's wedding.

"The first artist I remember listening to, that gave me the desire to sing, was Amy Grant," Capuchina said.

Capuchina, who describes her sound as "Country with a Blues & Rock feel to it," is looking forward to traveling to the Windy City and recording, but revealed the first thing she wanted to be when growing up was a mechanic, thanks to the time she spent with her father.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Bio

It’s a great pleasure to present to you Rita Capuchina’s recent single release “So In Love With You.”        She explains with a warm smile, “The song is about finding the one you're meant to be with…it’s a celebration of a lifelong commitment.  Written by my producer, Blanca Granados, for her sister's wedding it was originally a very slow ballad,” she recounts, “but we modified it to be a quicker country shuffle,” she laughs displaying an even greater smile.  That precise reaction epitomizes one of Rita’s strongest musical suits.  How she adds her own unique twist to create something differently wonderful.
As the first emerging artist from Ecstatic X Entertainment, Rita’s authentic belief of becoming a country artist and her love for country music resonates genuinely in her first single truly inspired by love.  Love for all those that surround her and share her dream and her love of life in general.  Her free spirit is really an inspiration to those who’ve come to know her as being as overly sweet as they come.  She’s a true champion of following your dreams no matter what while never forgetting where you came from.
Rita’s dedication to her art is a true journey being shared by many San Angeloans.  Being of Hispanic descent and leaning heavily on music during her younger years, she recalls growing up listening to Christian music, “so, the first artist I remember listening to that gave me the desire to sing was Amy Grant,” she says, “her vocals were so pure and beautiful that I could feel the emotion in her songs.”    Her music interest didn’t just stop there she absorbed pop and country and was inspired by artists like Alanis Morrissette, whose songs had great lyrics and unique vocal patterns.  “Then artists like Shania Twain, Terri Clark and Sara Evans introduced me to great Country music you could enjoy dancing and singing to.”  It’s all these artists, plus many, many more who inspired a once shy girl.
As a very versatile artist, with sounds ranging from blues, folk, country, southern rock, R&B, Spanish/Mexican, pop and classic rock, Rita has come to find and own her voice as a true Americana Country singer.  A sound she describes as Country with a Blues & Rock feel to it.  With hopes of fulfilling her ultimate dream by emulating her favorite country artist Miranda Lambert, noting her great lyrics and vocal talent, she is diligently writing songs and currently working hard to finish her upcoming album.
Rita’s passion and full understanding of her inspirational artistry is so grand, she adds, “I believe in being true to your Faith, your family, and yourself.  When you can't find words to express yourself, music will always be there for you.  I hope someday one of my songs will be able to help someone deal with the pressures of this life or just help them celebrate life.
