Born in Newcastle, England, Michael Shotton loved music from the moment he discovered The Beatles. Subsequently performing, by the ripe old age of three, Michael accumulated years of experience playing drums (southpaw!) and singing in countless original, top-40 and specialty tribute acts. In 1988, Michael signed to Herb Alpert’s label, A&M, with the pop-based group “Diamond Life”, who’s hit “Habits of the Heart” still, gets play on Canadian AOR radio. This launched one of the most diverse, storied kinds of careers that could possibly be imagined.

His notable work with EMI NY, A & M Records, Koch, Escape, Marquis, Apex, Z Records and Frontier Records lucrative and popular contracts have distinguished Michael as a creative powerhouse in the music world. His 35 plus years of performing, writing and producing have netted him numerous industry accolades including a Platinum Album. His innate knowledge of music, the power of lyrics and his unique attack of composition, drive him to produce pieces that speak to many in all genres of the spectrum.

With published and respected works in Rock , Soft Rock, Country, Gospel, Children’s Projects, Television and Movie Scores, Shotton’s creativity is boundless. Michael’s performing experience as a Tenor Rock Star, with Von Groove, The Outpatience (inc. members of Guns n Roses, Billy Idol and Paul McCartney), Boston, Matthew Gerrard (High School Musical), Triumph, Rick Emmett, Alan Frew and numerous other major players in the industry have helped define his approach to writing and creating for clients and himself. His passionate instrumentation, marrying lyrics and mood, have defined both his writing success and prowess. With songs in current contract with Canadian TV studios, Canadian Rock, Gospel and Country Artists, Nashville powerhouse producers have recently taken notice.

Working in Toronto, across Canada, NYC , throughout the continental USA and Europe, Michael is constantly travelling and working with performers of all disciplines to help them find success that captures the hearts and dollars of avid followers. An articulate musician and consummate writer, Michael logs numerous hours in studio and editing works in process. His clients and followers agree that his drive for perfection have defined his end product. Still performing himself to stadiums of over 33,000 people around the world as well as intimate gatherings of 30 or so, Michael completely understands the power of the medium. As a vocalist, percussion specialist and a player of numerous instruments, Shotton’s versatility allows him to seek the proper vehicle for each individual project and artist.
