Bio

As cream rises to the top so does the exceptional talent of Piracy, (aka Gloria Melissa Carballo), an innovative and charismatic vocalist, is well-known amongst her many fans for hardcore raggamuffin style that is reminiscent of old school Jamaican deejays like Sister Nancy, Chaka Demus, Rankin Ann and Brigadier Jerry. In particular, Piracy specifically credits Sister Carol as one of her biggest influences long with Lady Saw, Mr. Vegas and Tiger. She is versatile and lyrically deadly on stage working with a band or off tracks with a sound system. She is the lead singer of the band Piracy Conspiracy.

The band was nominated for best World Music band at the 2014 San Diego Music Awards. Piracy Conspiracy music is airing internationally  on 91X (91.1FM San Diego, CA), FM 94/9 (94.9FM North County, CA), and Radio Fusion (102.5FM Tijuana, Mexico).

Piracy Conspiracy is a high-energy horn driven reggae band who can ignite any crowd large or small. The band began 2014 firing hot by performing at the Valley View Casino Center for the 33rd Annual Tribute to the Reggae Legends Festival and again on main the stage in 2015. In summer 2014, the group performed at these festivals: KROQ's 11th Annual Summer Meltdown in Santa Clarita, San Diego Pride, and Adams Ave Street Fair.  Piracy made a special on-stage appearance with Don Carlos in 2013 (link to video) and  again with B-Side Players in 2014  at Cali Roots Reggae Festival in Monterey. Last spring (4/25/15) Piracy blazed the stage with Tribal Seeds at Observatory North Park on the final encore of the sold out 3 night run.
