Bio

Peter Scapegrace is a multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter residing in southeast Pennsylvania. He sings about the ever-changing landscape of love and loss, truth and self-delusion, life-affirming joy and aching regret. He also takes great enjoyment in taking well-known classics from the American songbook and reinterpreting them in his own particular fashion.

From 1997 to 2008, he gained some regional acclaim north of the Mason-Dixon Line as a founding member of the countrifunked jazzabilly band The Unpronounceable, performing and recording under the name Jorge Beefalo. Following the band's split, he returned to his acoustic beginnings, calling upon influences ranging from '40s Big Band to '90s Alternative Rock, and pulling at the strings that tie Old-time Country to '60s Folk-Rock. The resulting Americana mash-up evokes, among other things, the sweetness of Jim Croce, the mourning wail of Hank Williams, the plaintive rock & roll croon of Chris Isaak, and the resonant energy of Richie Havens.

In 2010, his original song "After Dark" won the Lehigh Valley Music Award for Best Acoustic Song. In 2011, he received another LVMA, this time for Best Acoustic Performance of his original song "Hardships Past." In 2012, he was one of three finalists in the Voice of the Valley competition, and his song "A Little Me and You" took Third Place in the July/August Lyric Contest for American Songwriter Magazine.
