Painted Canyon: a solid combination of rock and Americana.
Painted Canyon is a heartland rock band hailing from Chicago, Illinois.
They have recently released a collection of new tracks that seamlessly blend Americana, roots, and heartland rock.
The first track “Fear” has a driving momentum that has a distinctly cinematic feel. The raw and gritty country vibe of this number is reminiscent of artists such as Lucero and John Mellencamp, to mention but two.
“Olivia” shows a completely different side of the band. This track features stunning harmonies and an introspective lyrical composition. In particular, this song showcases the classic Americana style of the band. “Olivia” recalls country legends such as The Everly Brothers. Yet, Painted Canyon brings a more contemporary edge to this traditional songwriting style.
One of the most interesting songs from Painted Canyon is “Wanderlust”. The production aesthetic is balanced and crisp, allowing for the lead vocals to shine through in the mix. The guitar tones are smooth, adding to the diverse textures in the track.
“Lotta Living” is an energetic and uplifting song. Because of its dynamic and engaging composition, this would be perfect in a live performance. The lyrics in “Lotta Living” are sweet, poignant, and captivating. This is definitely one of the strongest tracks released by Painted Canyon.
The songs in this album are eclectic and diverse. This shows how versatile the musicians are and how beautifully they work together.

Painted Canyon is a heartland rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band is made up of members Evan Burns (lead vocalist and guitar), Eric Gannon (bass and vocalist), and Dan Powell (drums and vocalist). When these three seasoned and skilled performers joined together they discovered an immediate musical connection. As a trio, the band is passionate about developing stunning harmonies and creating original music. The band members have played together in Chicago venues such as Tonic Room, Silvies’ Lounge, Flesk Brewing, among many others. Painted Canyon is characterized by their Americana rock that is direct and honest. Their compositions focus on compelling lyrics and an uplifting soundscape. The band's roots-inspired style is reminiscent of legendary rock icons such as Tom Petty and John Mellencamp. Painted Canyon is passionate about creating great lyrics, catchy hooks, and music that has a social message at its heart. The band recently finished recording their debut EP at Audiotree Studio with engineer, Rick Fritz. The rich and textural numbers of this debut EP strike to the soul of their unique sound.
