Portuguese-Canadian songstress OXALA is a rising artist to watch. The singer/songwriter was born and raised in Mississauga and calls herself “an old-school jazz singer, with new-school grit.” Audiences liken OXALA's sound to her biggest musical influence, Amy Winehouse. She is currently recording her debut EP with Pianist/Producer Adrian Hogan which will be released independently in November. Her use of like-rhymes and experimental form is enlivened by Hogan’s Hip-Hop/RnB and Neo-Soul vibe. OXALA performs with a deep sense of soul fused with her own brand of no-nonsense charisma.
