Bio
In 2011, four Syracuse University freshmen came together with a love for singing and a desire to start something new. Today, Otto Tunes, named after SU’s famed mascot, has become the university’s most prominent a cappella group - and the first to rock orange pants. The four-time ICCA quarterfinalists strive to spread joy through their vibrant personalities, charismatic style, encapsulating arrangements, and powerful, energetic sound. They have toured from Buffalo, NY down to Maryland, opening for The Rockettes at The Radio City Christmas Spectacular and conducting workshops at countless Middle Schools and High Schools along the way.
And no, they are not auto-tuned, but you wouldn't believe it.
Contemporary Pop/Alternative music is their forte, but they have built up a diverse repertoire of music that can appeal to all audiences and can fit venues of all sizes. A standard performance ranges from throwback jams from bands such as The Beatles, Earth Wind and Fire, and The Police to current-day bops from superstars like Shawn Mendes, Justin Timberlake, and Billie Eilish. They average about 20 performances per semester and constantly challenge themselves to pursue new opportunities and push the limits of what's currently being done in the world of a cappella.
In a group consisting of both music and non-music students, Otto Tunes is place where people of unique backgrounds and interests can share a mutual appreciation for the art of music-making. The 21 young, enthusiastic individuals are devoted to creating a musical experience that communicates their strong sense of community and tight-knitted brotherhood, leaving audience members with smiles on their faces and a fun, uplifted energy that will leave them coming back for more.
