Using the word “radio” in any description of a band should be used cautiously. It tends to draw up ideas of mediocrity or being generic. This is especially true of people who dissect rock music. However, there are the bands that have made this less of a stigma. They’ve made us realize that commercial sounding songs aren’t necessarily so commercial after all and that being widely likable shouldn’t be a bad thing. Orbit Monkey is one of these bands.
Orbit Monkey is an amalgamation of all the radio ready pop-rock artists in the best way possible. If you take Kings of Leon, Lighthouse and The Fray, mixed up all their top radio hits and recorded it, you would get something by Orbit Monkey.
Songs like “Summer in the City” and “On Fire” have that radio favorite upbeat positivity. However, then they throw out songs like “Born to Be Kings.” This one is slower and sweeter, but still finds its place in the discography of a pop-rock band.
When you listen to Orbit Monkey, be sure to pay attention. There are multiple moving parts to these songs. Sure, you can hear the guitars and drums that might do something cool here and there. There are moving parts in the background, working as precisely as clockwork. You’ll hear a little synth or maybe some strings, too. - Creative Control Magazine
Last month, in the MediaZone, we featured Orbit Monkey, a new band created by Jorg Kohring. Their debut album, entitled Are We Alive, is now available and is excellent. I want to share this information as I have been listening to the CD and just can't stop. The collection of songs is great and deals with relationships and love. The vocals and lyrics are fresh and sensitive and the music is super! If you are looking for gifts or for a new CD for yourself, I recommend this one. For more info or to order Are We Alive visit www.orbitmonkey.com or www.myspace.com/orbitmonkey. - Lifestyle Magazine

Bio
Orbit Monkey is the brainchild of singer/songwriter JĂśrg Kohring. After playing guitar for bands like Lifehouse and Blend, it was time to step up to the microphone. Songs were already written and waiting to be recorded, so the debut album "Are We Alive" came together quickly. After playing the 1st couple of shows and meeting some of Hollywood's taste-makers, the 6/8 anthem "Let There Be Love" was licensed for the TV show "The Young And The Restless" in multiple episodes. Since then Y&R also featured other songs from Orbit Monkey including "Used" and "Twisted" from the follow-up EP "One Last Twilight". The most recent placement was in Hollywood Heights and the title track from the upcoming album "Learning To Love" will be featured in the trailer of an upcoming movie with some well known Hollywood celebrities :)
