Bio
Opus Orange is the recording project of LA-based musician, Paul Bessenbacher. 'Opus' is a nod to Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu, Opus 66 and 'orange', to Mingus’ “Orange Was The Color Of Her Dress”. The name embodies his ability to mesh together seemingly disparate shapes into an authentic whole.
The shape on Opus Orange’s upcoming album, Miles From Nowhere, is that of exuberant, heartfelt, full-band goodness. Indie Rock Cafe calls OO’s music “deliciously upbeat indie pop.” The Revue calls it “oft-kilter, brilliant. highly infectious, and just ear-popping sugar candy.”
An esteemed composer for film and TV, Bessenbacher’s work has appeared in feature films by Joss Whedon & Catherine Hardwicke, the documentary Mile, Mile & a Half, TV shows like Broad City, Younger, Grey’s Anatomy and The Detour, and national ads for Apple, Google, Samsung and Adobe. On the songwriter side, he’s collaborated with such artists as Eleni Mandell, Thao Nguyen, Tim Booth (James), Lauren Hillman (Kotomi), Emy Reynolds, and Joe Gil, Bernard Chadwick (Loud Forest) and Rachel Chadwick (Loud Forest).
