Born Julio Vasquez in Brooklyn, N.Y., One Shade Of Soul is recovering from 3 recent heart attacks, 7 stent insertions, An LVAD insertion, 3 strokes, 3 deaths & a heart transplant. As One Shade Of Soul lay in his hospital bed in I.C.U. One Shade Of Soul went to sleep to never wake again. Instead, One Shade Of Soul awoke with a new heart implanted overnight via 12 hour surgery. The next day his surgical wounds were closed. One Shade Of Soul founded Soul Records LLC (record label) & Soul Records OSOS (publishing) & created his full c.d. album debut by writing, arranging, composing, performing, recording, producing & mixing the entire thing solo in his dying bed at home & partly in a hospital bed during his heart transplant. One Shade Of Soul entitled this album “Something 4 Everyone”. The sixth song on “Something 4 Everyone”, entitled “Self”, is dedicated to everyone at the heart hospital of Norfolk, Va.. Self" is about the difference in One Shade Of Souls' life when he realized that his chosen life style was largely responsible for his current health issues & how much of an improvement loving himself made & could make in his life. Now a youtube video as well, “Self” was filmed, directed & edited by One Shade Of Soul on that same dying bed at home & hospital bed during his heart transplant, as can be seen in the video.
