At the tender age of 24, Jersey Shore representative Ockey Bama is already a vet. Having signed a production deal at 6 years old with No Limit Records via his dad, the music game is nothing new to Ockey. After almost two decades of in the lab preparation, OB is finally ready to release his premiere project aptly entitled For The Win. Freequan
Johnson aka Ockey Bama was born and raised in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Ockey began his music career at the impressive age of six years old,
signing to No Limit Records one of the most successful and well
respected independent labels that would forever change the course of the
hiphop industry. Freequan along side his older brother formed the Lil'
Soldiers. His tenure on the tank was a priceless experience earning him
features on at least 6 albums and the release of his freshman album
"Bootcamp". His early footing in the game allowed him to come in contact
with a few industry greats as well as the opportunity to learn the ins
and outs of the music industry hands on..
Once
the contract ended and overcoming a few personal setbacks the former
Lil' Soilder signed to a familiy based label lockablockdown records
established by his forever supportive father. As Freequan began to come
of age he to took on the stage name,"BillyWonder"
and began performing in major events such as Kings Dominion for BET's
106 & Park before an audience of thousands, Pelli Pelli fashion
event in Miami, and later opening for Snoop Dog among other
accomplishments.
Freequan
later returned to Asbury Park (ranked 4th highest in crime in all of
New Jesey State) and began to embrace the streets as he transitioned
from a boy to a man going through his own rights of passage. He began to
find himself caught up in a never ending struggle and after several run
ins with the law he decided it was time to go back to his foundation
which was his love for music. Equipped with street knowledge, a whitty
demeanor and a strong self confidence he effortlessly earned love and
respect among his peers.
Young
Freequan re-emerges as Ockey Bama, the hood president. At 24 years of
age he is focused and paced to win regardless to whom or what. Having
gone through the fire follow this young entreprenuer as he sets to
establish his own empire block by block. He is indeed a work in progress
so come ride with him throughout his career as he takes you on the
twist and turns of a young black male determined to succeed.
