Bio
Nite Haus formed 3 years ago, when Carrie placed a Craigslist ad saying she was a singer/fashion icon
looking for a weird amateur electronic musician. They make their music in Nils's living room, and they still have trouble describing it. Some of it is club music, some is more ethereal, and some is just bombastic, playful, and silly. What binds everything together is simplicity, eccentricity, and a certain “Euro” sensibility. (Brian Turner of WFMU calls it “crossover electronic pop.”) Nils, who came to Brooklyn from Germany 6 years ago, is inspired by the precision and slight old-school sound of Claude Von Stroke and Boston Bun as well as the playfulness of bands like Siriusmo and Andhim. He also is really into Michael Jackson. Carrie is inspired by artists like Annie, Class Actress, Deee-Lite, and the Human League.
Nite Haus's self-released debut album, Transform the Dark, hit #11 on the CMJ RPM chart last Spring. They are in the middle of writing their second album and in the meantime have played 3 great live shows in NYC. Nite Haus bring a great energy and look to their performances. Carrie and Nils both have a very strong stage presence, and Carrie brings her love of fashion into play with unique and creative stage costumes. One thing no one can deny: Nite Haus live is NEVER BORING.
