NEVA is a Rochester, New York native whose love for music began at the age of three. Crediting her church for fostering her musicality with instruments and her voice alike, NEVA found herself most comfortable and confident on stage. In the 8th grade, she performed Alicia Keys “Girl on Fire” at her school’s talent show and won first place. This achievement, along with support from her mother and her church, gave NEVA the courage to audition for School of the Arts in Rochester, New York where she earned her spot as a vocal major.

NEVA discovered artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Jill Scott, who fueled her love of Jazz and became some of her biggest musical influences. NEVA decided to immerse herself into the genre of Jazz in her sophomore year of high school. She spent the early years of her career showcasing her talent by performing at local shows and festivals including the Rochester International Jazz Festival.

A multi-talented and self-taught artist, NEVA writes and produces her own music, and plays instruments including the cajon, djembe, and tambourine. NEVA frequently performs in her hometown of Rochester, as well as Chicago, Illinois where she is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts for Music with a concentration in Jazz studies at Columbia College.

NEVA is working hard to make her dreams come true, and recently released her first single of 2021 titled “E-ay,” which is available for purchase on her website at nevatheofficialmusic.com.
