About Nerdess

Nerdess is the musical brainchild of artist Alexandra Leonhart (she/her), a project that focuses on crafting quirky indie rock and folktronica that’s as catchy as it is clever.

As a queer DIY musical gal who has been performing for over a decade, Alexandra weaves intricate lyrics that are garnished with humorous vignettes, supplemented with captivating melodies that combine for a sound grounded by acoustic guitar that is often complimented by a small ensemble of DAWless synthesizers and groove boxes, culminating in a sound that is both playful and innovative. With the help of her robot friends expect many fun little ditties to the tune of life as a cat mom, being super gay, and falling in love with monsters during an apocalypse.

With an upcoming debut DIY EP & album in production, Nerdess compositions are full of whimsical themes and compelling autobiographical character studies often sprinkling in wordplay or homage to erudite jargon.
