Bio
Ivan Barela (aka Navi Uptown) is an artist/producer performing hip-hop and R&B music. Born in New Mexico, Ivan started writing music as a way to cope with the loss of his mother at a young age. His life experiences, culture and world events are what inspires him to write music. It wasn't till 2011 that Ivan decided to pursue a career in music, in
which he created the WE ARE UPTOWN movement. In 2014 the artist took to
SoundCloud as his only outlet to listen to his music. Inspired to create his own sound, Navi decided to start producing in 2016, at which point he released 'It Can Get Better' and 'Alright Freestyle'. Navi is now making his official debut releasing his self produced EP titled 'Wavy' in August 2017. His purpose is to create meaningful music for the people and to bring entertainment to the city. ~Uptown
