Mukwuru's music comes from a world of pain. When this songwriter says, 'Listen to the song I sing,' he means it. So, let the music move you and take heart. A singer/songwriter fusing jazz with many flavors . . . . This singer/songwriter crosses over many genres. It's music for the people.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, to a mother he watched sing around the house. Rose Marie was a professional singer with a record until a husband and family came along. Michael was to watch and learn from mother singing techniques and learn to play the guitar she bought him for his 12th birthday.
Mukwuru played his first gig in a rock band at the Indianapolis State Fair. He moved to Los Angeles and was offered a chance to record in Japan, but passed on that opportunity. Sometimes he wonders about that today. Instead he lived a life of pain and it is from that pain he pulls the words for the songs he writes.
