Micahlan Boney

14 years old and already playing 280 shows a year. What happens to homework? That's a lot of shows for anyone, much less a kid. But multi instrumentalist and vocalist Micahlan Boney sits in the back of the truck crunching homework while on the road to festivals and gigs all over the southeast. A fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and vocal contest winner and player at festivals of Americana music old time, bluegrass, rock and roll, and country, rhythm and blues, she has played in 5 states in the last 12 months, but her crowning achievement over the last year was being invited to play at Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour where the audience and host were wowed by her picking and soulful renditions of old blues songs played on acoustic instruments. Over the summer, after seeing her perform an acoustic version of Blind Willie McTell's " Statesboro Blues" at the Uncle Dave Macon Days,  an old blues man from Nashville said, "That little girl is fierce." Fierce yes, sometimes, but also she can also render a ballad so tender, grown men have pulled out their hankies to dab their eyes.
