Valentina Mitzkat and Brad Reaume began Miakoda as a Noho studio project based on their mutual admiration of “movie scores and apocalyptic themes.” When the world didn’t end in 2012, the coed duo decided to finally expose their cinematically influenced grandeur pop. The result is an evocative wave of orchestrated sonics carried by Mitzkat’s soaring vox such as on “Hold” off their recently released debut EP Tie A Knot: - Free Bike Valet
"The After You" by Miakoda (SONGS writer Valentina Mitzkat) will be featured in Episode 10 of Finding Carter, airing this Tuesday, September 2nd at 10/9c on MTV.
Finding Carter is a family drama that centers on Carter, a teenage girl who thinks she has the perfect life until one night after a police bust at a high school party she is told that the woman who she believes to be her biological mother actually abducted her as a toddler.
"The After You" is from Miakoda's Tie a Knot EP, available for download on iTunes. - Songs Publishing
In this week’s episode of Finding Carter, “Love Story” the lovely melodies of Miakoda perked up our ears via their standout track “The After You.” Probably our favorite song off of the duo’s recently-released “Tie A Knot” EP, “The After You” is a somber piano-based ballad that showcases singer Valentina Mitzkat’s remarkable voice.
You can stream the entire episode above, and listen for the song when The Wilson family waits silently for an update and Taylor has a flashback. - Scene On TV

This collaboration would become Miakoda’s debut EP, “Tie A Knot”.
Released on March 18th, 2014. the EP has garnered Miakoda comparisons to Florence +The Machine, London Grammar, The XX and MS MR.
In early 2014, Miakoda recruited Venezuealn born drummer/percussionist Demian Arriaga to round out the line up, and began playing live on the LA scene. Their music video for “Going Home” was released on May 5th, 2014.
Miakoda’s songs have garnered placements on network TV shows on MTV, Vh1, Fox, ABC, and more.
