Matt Jacob

Matt Jacob, is an American alt-rock singer-songwriter whose original music spans blues, jazz, folk and psych-rock. Based out of NYC, his heartfelt lyrics, passionate vocals, and honest, emotive baritone delivery evoke comparisons to Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler and Peter Gabriel. His music is written from a poetic perspective, whereby woven words create engaging stories. The melodies he has developed have been brought to life through singles, videos and stage performances. His song Rocking Chair was covered by Blues Hall of Fame inductee J. Blake, and his song Straight Flush was featured as part of the ceremony for the Indie Soap Awards.

In 2021, Matt decided to pursue music as a solo artist and co-produced two singles of his original music (which he performed all parts for except drums). His debut single,’Chakra Song’, was described as a “meditatively cathartic single…an incredibly promising debut that will no doubt leave the artist on the radars of post-punk and psych-rock fans alike” (Natália Garcia, RocknBold) and “a very well constructed song…which makes the listener travel, literally, through its intensity” (Amelia Vandergast, A&R Factory).

In 2023, Matt has assembled a phenomenal group of soulful backing musicians (featured above) that include: Sean Decker (bass), Jack Riley (keys) and Gandhi Gonzalez (drums); the group is currently performing in support of an EP in production slated for release in the fall of 2023, with singles to be released late summer. As of Sept. 5th 2023, the band will begin a NYC monthly residency at Rockwood Music Hall.
