Featuring Matt Hil, trumpet, Aaron Carey, guitar.
Matt Hill studied music education at Shepherd College and West Liberty State College. He has performed in jazz clubs and concert venues in the United States and Italy. Additionally, Hill's jazz combo 4AM performed at the White House for President Clinton during the Candlelight Tours. As Founder and Executive Director of the Dream Big After School Music Program, Hill teaches children weekly throughout the Ohio Valley. In addition, Hill performs and directs music for the Community Made Serenade program in Wheeling, WV.
Guitarist Aaron Carey has been teaching and performing for over 20 years both locally and nationally. He earned a Master of Education from Bethany College and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from West Virginia University. A Bethany College music faculty member since 2005, Carey also teaches at CA House Music in St. Clairsville, OH, and J&K Musician's Workshop in Washington, PA, and is active as a solo performer and in several groups

WHEELING — After a brief summer hiatus, Third Friday makes its return to Artworks on Sept. 20 with the jazz duo of Matt Hill and Aaron Carey. They will be presenting their latest collection of jazz, pop and classical music featuring the electric and classical guitar and flugelhorn. Accompanying them as a special guest drummer will be Ryan Hill from the Dream Big After School Music Program.
Matt Hill studied music education at Shepherd College and West Liberty State College. He is founder and executive director of the Dream Big After School Music Program. He teaches children weekly throughout the Ohio Valley as well as performing and directing music for the Community Made Serenade program in Wheeling. He has performed in jazz clubs and concert venues in the United States and Italy. Past performances include playing for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame groups such as The Impressions, Little Anthony and The Tymes. Additionally, Hill’s jazz combo performed at the White House for President Clinton during the Candlelight Tours.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. There is no cover charge but donations are welcome and all proceeds go to the performers. There will be light snacks available for purchase. Artworks is located in the Historic Centre Market at 2200 Market St., Wheeling. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday with closing at 6 p.m. on Fridays. - Wheeling Intelligencer
