Hailing from Hesperia, CA in the Mojave Desert in north San Bernardino County, Manantial De Fuego, also known as MDF, began playing heavy metal tunes at backyard shows in 2004, and later began to do Spanish rock covers which eventually led to what the band is today.
In 2008, after a car accident on their way to a recording studio, the band broke up, but three years later, in 2011, MDF decided to give it another try. The band released their first album, Deseos, and as their popularity increased, MDF began to play shows in Los Angeles.
In 2012, the band released their second album, Amor Fatal, and soon became staples of the L.A. local music scene with shows at some of the most important venues like Conga Room, House of Blues in Hollywood, Florentine Gardens, L.A. Live, and 333 LIVE.
After the release of Amor Fatal, MDF participated in the battle of the bands (El Reto Del Rock) sponsored by radio station Super Estrella and MDF was among the last 4 finalists, increasing the exposure of the band and having their single “Amor Fatal” played on the radio station.
Manantial De Fuego, is definitely one of the most exciting live bands as they are not only great musicians, but they are also very passionate and very energetic. Through their riveting performances, MDF has gained loyal fans following that they even have a group of fans from Hesperia who follow the band to all their performances.
According to their official website, MDF describes their music as “a modern fusion of rock with Latin influences of cumbia, salsa, and ska”. On Amor Fatal, the band was able to combine their musical and cultural influences coming up with a unique sound that, at times, remind you of The Smiths, late 80’s Spanish rock, punk and even some pop elements.
You can catch MDF live along with another 12 of the most popular local bands at the first show of the Unirock Breakout Tour on Sunday February 16 at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights.
MDF’s music can also be downloaded from I-tunes and streamed on Spotify. - Alborde
"Our stuff is pretty upbeat music — we like to make people dance," bass player Rafa Penatello of Manantial de Fuego said. They're set to play at 1 p.m. Sunday, less than 24 hours after they play the House of Blues in Las Vegas on Saturday night. - Daily Press
