“Treatz” is the first single from Lowbanks’ upcoming full length, and while it does signal a slight stylistic departure from the scruffy garage rock that littered their debut, the energy and enthusiasm remain just as infectious. So what’s different this time around? Well, besides the song’s staunch ’90s vibe, the bursts of gnarly guitar fuzz feel more controlled and the pop hookcraft is sharper. Even when the trio find themselves flying headlong into a punked-up squall of grimy guitars, hazed-out vocals and hyperkinetic drums, the band retains an air of loose-limbed confidence that keeps their ragged fuzz-rock locomotive from careening off the rails. Lowbanks is a punk/garage rock trio from Atlanta, Georgia founded in 2011 by vocalist/guitarist John Graffo and drummer Grey Duddleston when the two were renting a house together in south Atlanta. Both had played in various bands throughout high school and were anxious to get back to playing live. The two began discussing musical influences and developed a unique and aggressive style of garage music. Solidifying their lineup, Christian Self was added on bass in 2012. Throughout 2012/early 2013, Lowbanks cycled through a few lead guitarists before settling on working as a trio. In April 2013, they released their debut EP Lowbanks Forever. Following the release, they focused on playing shows, cultivating an energetic and exciting live performance, and building a larger fanbase, while simultaneously exploring new influences and changing to a more punk-inspired sound. On December 3rd, 2013 Lowbanks will release TREATZ the first single from their upcoming debut LP.
