Bio

Loose Change Quintet is a fabulous live band delivering fresh interpretations of  known songs as well as originals all with a soul/jazz/pop vibe that listeners enjoy. LCQ has 3 excellent front line vocalists and great interaction with the crowd. There gig experience at both the summer festival and corporate event level allows you to book this band with confidence.

LCQ is also organized and professional.  Great communicators with quick email response times and dependable, professional musicians.

Loose Change has performed at well known events such as the TD Niagara Jazz Festival, Oakville Jazz Festival, Royal Botanical Gardens Jazz and Blues Series  and the Burlington Sound of Music amongst others. Corporate events include such high profile evenings as the Mayor's Cabaret at the Burlington Center for Performing Arts and private functions for conferences and private parties. Their repertoire covers a wide range of genres, originals and cover songs, selected from their favourite eras of music.  The right music can make all the difference to the success of an event. Loose Change will work with you to create an atmosphere that's just right for the occasion.

The band is an eclectic pool of Burlington/Niagara area musicians who play in and around the local music scene. Barry & Barbara Simmons form the core of the band and are a singer/songwriter duo who own a local recording studio, The Jazz Kitchen. Their song Waterfall was on the play list of Smooth Jazz station Wave 94.7. Depending upon the occasion, they are joined by such others as: Jacqueline Pearson whose rich and soulful voice can be found on numerous live and studio albums; Ryan Ethier, a young bass phenom who worked with the Skip Prokop band for many years; and Scott Mason, guitar guru with Sky Terminal.

The band offers a duo, a trio, a quartet or a quintet depending on the customer's needs, the venue and/or, the occasion.

An added bonus: book them for your next live music event and they will provide a complete sound system, saving you the headache (and expense) of equipment rental! (small to medium size venue).

A little shameless promotion:

"Every once in a while you encounter a gem! I am a meeting planner with 25 years experience and have heard and experienced my share of musical entertainment. I had the pleasure of experiencing "Loose Change Quintet" recently and will be using them in the future at many of my upcoming events. I would recommend them without a doubt, especially if you are in search of easy listening, toe tapping, entertaining musicians that would add the "needed" touch to your next event or personal occasion." Rita Plaskett, CMP, CMM, President AGENDUM Inc.

"You guys are the hippest of the hip man. You need to check into the home of the chronically groovy."   Charles F., a fan

"Can't believe there's only five of you up there, I thought you were a 12 piece band!"  Artwork Artbar owner, Ron Weihs

"They were a last minute addition and we made the greatest choice in choosing them. They performed at our Jazz Festival and were fantastic! Cant go wrong with this group!" Sue Hoover, Special Events Coordinator, Oakville Jazz Festival

"Loose Change performed at the Royal Botanical Gardens as part of our Red Hot Jazz and Cool Blues Wednesdays Music Series. It was a pleasure hosting such a talented group of musicians. Their song list was the perfect blend of original material and feel good classics. Guests truly enjoyed the music and it was well suited for a relaxing summer evening in our garden venue. We would recommend them for similar events and look forward to working with them in the future." Adrienne Lister, Special Event Coordinator, Royal Botanical Gardens

"Loose Change provided the music several times this year at the Niagara-on-the-Lake SupperMarket. The SupperMarket is a weekly outdoor summer event, which brings several thousand locals and visitors together in a family-friendly environment.   The weekly event consists of local food trucks and food vendors, local wine, beer, and cider, and of course, local music.  The music of “Loose Change” was just what the doctor ordered - accessible, and friendly, with a good vibe and an appropriate volume. People loved them and stayed around to hear the great tunes. I would not hesitate in recommending Loose Change for your next event." Sharon Brinsmead-Taylor, Market Coodinator
