Toronto, ON based rapper, Leondro has released a brand new single entitled “Like That”. The song combines high energy with a dance vibe that will have everyone on the floor. This is definitely a party song, and I can see it becoming a popular track among the rap community. Be sure to keep an eye out on Leondro’s social media pages for more on this up & coming Canadian rapper. - CanadianBeats.ca
Have you got that Friday feeling yet? If not, why the hell not? Get out of your chair, get yourself a Jägerbomb, get it down your gullet and get onto the dancefloor (or, depending on what time-zone you’re in, the nearest appropriate flat surface in your place of employment).
Or, alternatively, just press play on Leondro’s new single ‘Like That’ – the effect is much the same. The Toronto rapper’s latest release comes with his personal guarantee that it’ll “keep the ladies on the dance floor – even after the party is over”, and we’re delighted to help kick off your weekend with it. Leondro may have endured a troubled past (which you can read about in more depth on his website) but he’s clearly in the mood to celebrate. To join him in that celebration, we thought we’d fire over a few questions… - The Monitors
“Release of “Hunnit,” the clever new single by the tried and true Cuban-Canadian rapper, Leondro. “Hunnit” is both the announcement of his arrival on the music scene and a tribute to the record label that inspired him.” - Thisis50.com

PREMIERE: LEONDRO’S MUSIC VIDEO FOR “HUNNIT”
Leondro pays tribute to Cash Money Records on “Hunnit”in many ways, but it’s most noticeable on the hook. Cash Money Records, being home to Lil Wayne, the Hot Boys and the Big Tymers, has had a major influence on many new rappers. This is especially true for Leondro, who came from a background of always getting in to trouble. The same influence can also be seen in Nef The Pharaoh‘s Big Tymin’.
Leondro decides to wear his influences on his sleeve in this song, with the video putting them on display. Leondro lives every rappers’ dream as he stunts with beautiful women while chilling by a Lamborghini, similar to the Big Tymers’ video for Still Fly. The track itself is no different. He drops references to Cash Money throughout and gives you something that’s just as exciting to hear coming from that label. - trutoo.co
The fierce sounds of an organ waste no time pulling a listener into Leondro‘s lively new track, “Hunnit”, which celebrates an iconic record label, Cash Money Records, and its influence on the 90s. A pleasing off-kilter melody permeates the track as Leondro’s smooth lyrics weave in and out with an incredible precision. The perfect offering for the label that saw the success of so many legends, including Juvenile and Lil Wayne, and continues to represent some of the hottest names on the scene.
Leondro grew up in Toronto and watched his mother work tirelessly for his and his sibling’s well-being. When he was five, his mother gave him a karaoke machine, and a lifelong love of music was born. Years of living on the edge and run-ins with the law created a somber, edgy sound in Leondro’s music, but when he realized he wanted to go farther, be more than his experiences and change the game, he shifted to the more upbeat sound you hear today. A little bit of pop, a little bit of trap, and a whole lot of energy. Like his music, his future is looking bright, driven, and fun.

LEONDRO CALLS OUT HIS DOUBTERS WITH COMBATIVE AND FEISTY NEW SINGLE “FUNK YOU” - PeaceMagazine.com
Toronto, ON based hip hop artist, Leondro released “Girl You The Ish” back in December, and now we are lucky enough to have the premiere of his newest single, “Funk You” here at Canadian Beats along with an interview with the man himself. Be prepared for a bit of language, but for those of you who are into hip hop/ rap, this is will be right up your alley! - Canadian Beats
If you enjoy the Rap Genre you will enjoy this ode by Leondro, “Girl You The Ish”. It’s not an in your face single, but a more introspective one. Their is language within the song that some might object to, so this is your warning. “Girl You the Ish” has a slower pace that conveys what he is feeling well and when looked in the context of his art form it is done really well and I think most will enjoy it. Leondro is sharing “Girl You the Ish” with ComicPop listeners through SoundCloud – Richard: - Comicpoplibrary.com
TORONTO RAPPER LEONDRO PRIMED FOR DANCEFLOOR TRIUMPH WITH VIDEO FOR NEW “LOW” SINGLE - Peace
“Super Big”, new video premiere by Toronto based rapper Leondro as he pays ultimate tribute to his hard-working and self-sacrificing mother featuring fellow Canadian rapper Yoko Gold. - Underground HIPHOP Blog
As Mother’s Day approaches, it seems only fitting to celebrate with NSM favourite Leondro and his energetic and emotional ode to his mother for helping him get to where he is now. “Super Big” was released for the Easter Seals Telethon on April 10th, which helped to raise over 3.2 million dollars for children with physical disabilities in Ontario. Now, he’s released the accompanying music video for the upbeat anthem.
The clip gives an autobiographical look at a significant part of Leondro’s musical and personal history: his relationship with his hardworking mother. From the gift of a karaoke machine to surviving on the streets of Toronto to ultimately remembering (and returning to) his true calling, Leondro is able to visually show us everything that the song conveys. Sometimes juxtaposing the positive nature of the song, sometimes working together to create moments of beautiful triumph, the video ultimately lands on a note of hope. - newsickmusic

Leondro Pays Ultimate Tribute to His Selfless Mother in “Super Big”
With just over a month left before Mother’s Day, rising Toronto rapper Leondro is setting the bar high with “Super Big,” his touching new ode to his hard-working and self-sacrificing mother. Featuring fellow Canadian rapper Yoko Gold, Super Big” looks back with appreciation and affection on Leondro’s mother’s hardships as “she fought to keep her children’s future bright.”
While “Super Big” details Leondro’s difficulty growing up without a father, its main focus is on his good fortune in having a mother who shouldered the burden. As a single parent, Leondro’s mother fought to keep her children out of trouble while still providing food to eat and a roof over their head. “Super Big” is from the perspective of a man who is only now able to fully understand and appreciate the full scope of his mother’s sacrifices. - What the Hype

LEONDRO
QUEEN CITY REDEMPTION
It’s always good to catch up with today’s artists and musicians. By far, Leondro is one of hip-hop’s best. Hailing from Toronto, otherwise known as The Queen City, his story is truly one of redemption. Not unlike many of the musicians he’s been so blessed to grace stages across the world with, he’s had what some would call a colorful journey. That’s all to say that he’s dealt with many of the same struggles that most encounter when pursuing their dreams, not just in entertainment, but any profession. Is journey has been anything but easy, but for him, it has definitely been worth the fight. He’s on top of the world with his album which released a few months ago, and now he’s on the road with none other than Peter Jackson, another entertainment mogul hailing from Toronto.
We had a brief moment to talk with Leondro about his road to get here, his faith, and of course the tour! Check out the exclusive right HERE!
Urban Grandstand Digital: I want to thank you so much for taking the time out to talk. I’ve followed you for much of this year. I know you released “Low” earlier this year, and that has done so well for you. Your career continues to flourish which is so amazing, and that’s why it’s even more amazing to connect with you.
Leondro: Man, I appreciate you having me.
Urban Grandstand Digital: Now, you’re on tour, and doing shows with Peter Jackson. We’ll definitely touch on that, but I also want people to have a sense of who you are, so talk about your beginnings, and upbringing in music. I know it’s been a journey for you.
Leondro: It all started with me growing up on Reggae music. My grandparents are half Jamaican. My mom is half Cuban, and my dad’s people are from Panama. The way Reggae is, it’s so diverse. Back in the day, you had someone like Barry Sandman, but you have other artists like Yellow man and Beenie who sound so different. Growing up on Reggae conditioned me to look at music overall. They did a lot of covers for certain songs, and growing up with that helped me to always have an ear for music. My dad worked at a record shop, and my brother was a DJ. I’ve always been around music. When I was 9, my friend and I said we would do this fully. Thank GOD I’m here to tell about it.
Urban Grandstand Digital: It’s good to know the background, especially for people just learning of you. There’s so much hip-hop in Toronto, and the community is much like any other urban community. You’re surrounded by so many things, including violence of the urban communities. How have you been able to stay away from that side of things?
Leondro: GOD. My father God. So many people around me, my age … nobody is in any type of great condition. I saw a friend who made sure I stayed out of trouble and wasn’t outside smoking, and now he’s homeless due to certain circumstances. One of my closest friends is doing a murder bid. The closest people around me have gone down for certain things and decisions. Growing up in the hood you see other things where it’s not just about being arrested. You’re 6 years old seeing dead bodies. It numbs you to the world, and instead of taking that and turning it into a negative, I wanted to do something else so the other generations see that’s not the route you have to take. I wanted to be an example for the next generation. You don’t have to follow that path. You can make something of yourself. You have to do what you want to do.
Urban Grandstand Digital: I think it’s amazing, and it’s good to hear someone of your level of fame speaking on those things. That’s what our generation needs to hear. They are really beginning to get it and understand. Kids today are more aware of their dreams, and they are making it happen. You’ve really pushed things in your career, and have been doing this for 20+ years. How has you album done for you?
Leondro: It’s doing very good. Things went well. I was happy to be in that position for people to hear it. Getting spins in Russia and Europe is amazing. It was a great feeling, and gave us the opportunity to be on a bigger scale and get the message out to more people. A lot of people strive hard in this industry and don’t get the opportunity to release something on this platform. It’s been a big blessing, and I feel blessed for the opportunity. Things are different though.
Urban Grandstand Digital: I think it’s good. Your response says how much you love this. So many artists are fascinated with sales, and obviously that’s a big part of everything, but your goal has been to expand your platform and get your music out. That speaks volumes in comparison to how most people think. Tell me about the tour with Peter Jackson?
Leondro: To go on tour with Peter Jackson is great. I’m not going to shy away from the truth. Peter puts in a lot of work, and while we haven’t spoken personally, he’s well respected. He’s brought a lot of artists to the city. A lot of artists look for the opportunity to be on his shows, and that was my goal. He’s pretty dope. To have this opportunity when things are different, and to be on tour, it’s a blessing and a reality check as to where we are with music. I’m excited for this tour and being able to spread what the GTA can do.
Urban Grandstand Digital: This tour speaks volumes of both of you and your character. There’s so much unity it seems. I think a lot of artists can learn a lesson from you. Now the tour started November 10th. How can everybody keep up with it all, and you as well?
Leondro: I’m at Leondromusic.com, and they can see the dates. We got the east coast now, west coast next, and we have a few other things brewing.
Urban Grandstand Digital: Any type of final thoughts, words of encouragement?
Leondro: I live by faith in self, and faith in God. With those things, everybody is unstoppable. Live your life the best way you can and do the right things. It doesn’t always happen in our timing. If you really want it, remain patient and keep at it. - UG Digital

First off, can you introduce yourself to Canadian Beats readers?
Yessir, I’m Leondro
Who are your influences?
Jay Z, 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, Gucci
You released your debut EP Leondro in 2016. Can you tell us about the process behind the album?
It was a body of work that embodies who I am as an individual. Just like the project, I have multiple variations to myself. I’ve had so many different experiences in life, what better way is there to share that rather than putting it into the music. What did the typical writing session look like? A typical writing session for me requires a calm atmosphere, rather it be in a dark room or outside. Whom, or what, have been some of your inspirations for tracks? Anybody in my life who I care about. If it’s an experience that has effected me in any shape or form, I can write about it.
How was the recording experience?
The recording process was interesting. It was a roller coaster of emotions. One day, I could be extremely satisfied with a song and another the opposite. However that’s https://www.acheterviagrafr24.com/viagra-ordonnance/ the beauty of the experience. What were the standout moments for you? Every moment was great for its own reason.
Do you have a favourite song on the album?

Check out Leondro’s interview with True magazine below.
-Let’s talk about your hometown Toronto. How did your home shape you as the artist and person you are today?
How does it not shape you! Where you’re from is your environment people you know, everything you do in between, it’s every experience you’ve had so it’s really hard for it not to shape you into who you are.
-What was life like growing up in Toronto?
In my particular environment, it was stressful, and fun at the same time. I remember going to funerals in the morning, and playing tag in the evening. Drugs and violence was normal within my surroundings
-When did “music” begin for you? Take us back to the first time you picked up a microphone?
That was a really monumental moment in my life, and because of that I based my super big video around that. If you watch that, it brings a lot of clarity to what my beginning was like.
-Who are some artists you grew up listening to?
Puff and the whole bad boy camp, the fugees, Jay Z, Dipset, Project pat, Gucci mane, Rick Ross, Jeezy, T.I, 50 cent! All these artist influenced the music I make today.
-What artists are you currently listening to now?
The exact same people!
-What’s the inspiration behind your self-titled project Leondro? What’s a track on Leondro that hits close to home for you?
Putting together a body of work for people to hear my music. That’s all any artist ever wants! ALL OF THEM, from the fun times I had to stories about a stressful childhood. It’s all in the music!
-You recently got off tour with Peter Jackson on his Married to Success Eastern Canadian Tour. What was that experience like?
Great! It gave me an opportunity to touch the fans in different cities and share my stories and experiences through a great stage show.
-Will you be doing anymore touring for the new year?
I most definitely will be! We have some things in the works, but fans will have to stay tuned and check my website for Theh postings.
-Is there any city you haven’t performed in that you would like to?
Yes! Every city I haven’t performed.
-We’re already in the new year. How would you describe 2016 for you?
A roller coaster! Ups, downs, but overall a great experience.
-What were your new year’s resolutions, if any?
None, doing better is a conscious decision I make everyday.
-What is the best advice you’ve ever given and received?
I can’t answer that question, because every Gem I’ve been given is the best for the situation I’m in. And the best part is, I’m still learning.
-Is there anything else you would like to say/add?
Yes, I would really like to thank you for this opportunity to be on your platform. Again my goal is to touch every person and share my stories and experiences this has given me more reach and for that I am grateful. - True Magazine

- Urban Grandstand Magazine
