LenOxe

Music has always played an essential role in LenOxe’s life.  During his youth his ears were often captivated by early Classic R&B and Hip-Hop records that would play through his home on any given day, particularly Saturday mornings when he would be cleaning up with his mother and sisters.  His love for music increased as he became a teen and provided him a passion for writing his own music.  By the time he was 14, LenOxe was writing and recording music with neighborhood friends which allowed him to sharpen his skills and become respected as a top notch spitter.  To develop his skills as a MC, LenOxe would enter plenty of neighborhood rap battles, talent shows, and contest; winning some, which proved his ability to move a crowd.  What made LenOxe respectable among his peers was his originality and ability to be a descriptive storyteller which separated him from most in the game. 

LenOxe went on to record his first independent EP “Respirator Music” in 2007, then released his independent LP “Down to Earth” in 2008.  His raw delivery, great songwriting, soulful production, and penchant for staying in touch with reality, lead to being recognized by DJ Jack of Spades of 103 Jamz, who took a liking to his singles “Leaning to the Side” and “Down to Earth”, which lead to both songs becoming regulars on Jack of Spades “Saturday Night Mix” and “Sunday Night Spotlight” primetime shows.  Over the course of the next several years, LenOxe would continue to record and release music independently, while continuing to participate in various talent shows and contest, attending music events, and building relationships with different music insiders.  In 2015, LenOxe would release “The Creation” EP, which would receive rave reviews from audiences when he would perform songs, such as, “Believe In” and “The Meaning”.

 In 2017, LenOxe partnered with his close friend Keneisha Witter, and decided to establish their own brand called Maafa Entertainment, with the purpose of officially having his own company that could produce music, films, provide various entertainment services, and assist with artist development.  The vision was to create a brand where artist can have Pride in their art, Liberation through creativity, and Own what they create.  In the same year, LenOxe would release his LP “God and Get Money” which displayed his artistic growth, touching on various topics such as, being motivated to make money in the title track “God and Get Money”, rapping about the importance of investing in yourself versus counting on someone else to help you in the song “Investing in Me”, being driven to overcome the odds in the song “Come Up”, or telling vivid story about a man who lost it all, and a young lady battling abortion but keeping faith, in “When You Fall”.  “God and Get Money” showed LenOxe’s versatility to touch on topics that are important to everyday people.  During this time, LenOxe went on to release a series of 25 videos from 2017 to 2018 called “Weekly Bars” where he would drop weekly videos rapping acapella or over production from himself or various producers.  “Weekly Bars” would gain over thousands of views across social media platforms and YouTube, which helped LenOxe spread his name and the Maafa brand.  In late 2017, LenOxe started writing and filming his first movie project “God and Get Money”, completing the film in late 2018.  “God and Get Money” the movie, was released on YouTube in March 2019.  LenOxe has several album projects prepared to release in 2019 with the first being “Prayer and Hardwork”, which is the sequel to 2017’s “God and Get Money”.  In the future, LenOxe is looking to continue expanding the Maafa brand through various music, films, merchandise, and performing arts projects.
