Bio
I write, sing, and play songs with roots in American folk traditions. Raised by civil rights workers in the South, I grew up on songs about justice, courage, tragedy, love, and perseverance. The poetry and musical invention of traditional American folk music still move me and inspire my original work. But as Woody Guthrie once said, all you can write is what you see. So my music responds to the joys and struggles of the present moment and the people in my life, while reaching for the timeless truths, feelings, and stories that the classic folk songs captured so well.
