Bio
LE FOMO brings you dance-o-matic gender fuck wave from Oakland. This duo transgresses gender norms through dirty riffs, electroclash beats, melodramatic belting, dissonant melodies, video projections, fur, dark sparkle, power accoutrement and performances packed with moments that raise the hair in your armpits.
Their latest and first full length album, We were never in control, is an electro punk's church of liberation. Taking quotes from Virginia Woolf ("A great mind is androgynous"), calling the listener to liberation, casting off the controls of internalized oppression, LE FOMO's new album carries you from sweaty basement dance floor to lounging in your smoking jacket to spaced out melodrama.
Comprised of Steph A. Nelson (synth, vocals, bass, beats, projections) and Kai Hofius (bass, guitar, drums), LE FOMO has been performing as a duo for a year and a half. LE FOMO originally started as a solo act by Steph A. Nelson in 2012, when she played in cities across the country including Omaha, Chicago, and NYC. A year later, she began playing with drummer extraordinaire Pablo Flouret and they released an EP entitled "Fear of Missing Out, No!", produced a music video with SF video production company, Slow Clap Productions, toured the west coast from Seattle to Long Beach and back to the Bay Area, and joined Wiener Records. Kai Hofius joined LE FOMO in 2014 and they and Steph produced their first LP. Pablo Flouret's drums appear on the track "A great mind is androgynous" on the latest album. Kai's pronouns are "they/them/their," and Steph's are "she/her."
LE FOMO was voted Band of the Month in late 2014 on SF Deli. Their latest album is the first one they've released since then, building on their growing local following.
