King’s Highway is an eight-piece horn and percussion-heavy ensemble, driven by a passion for early Jamaican jazz, folk, and spiritual music. Listeners will hear the progression of styles and island rhythms, including mento, nyabingi, calypso, and ska, highlighting some of the lesser known but very foundational aspects of popular Caribbean music.
Members of King’s Highway are internationally recognized musicians, and are current or past members of: The Skatalites, John Brown’s Body, Club d’Elf, Slightly Stoopid, Lettuce, Ryan Montbleu Band, The Boston Pops, The Nth Power, Naya Rockers, Itzhak Perlman, and others.
King’s Highway donates a portion of all performance proceeds to the Alpha Institute, which for over 100 years has been empowering the youth in Jamaica with education and life skills. Alpha has also played a crucial role in developing some of Jamaica’s finest and most successful musicians.
