Katerina Brown & Gary Brown Group

Katerina Brown is a stunning creative, emotional, and inspiring vocalist now based in The San Francisco Bay Area. A recent transplant from her native St. Petersburg, Russia, Katerina brings a lifetime of experience, performing, teaching and lecturing in music venues, festivals all around the world.

Katerina was the Main soloist and Ensemble Vocalist for 5 years with The Jazz Orchestra as part of The Cultural Centre of General Directorate of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, St. Petersburg.

Katerina studied at The University of Cultural and Art in Saint-Petersburg.  She graduated in 2015 with Special Honors as a Concert Vocalist, Ensemble Soloist, and Lecturer.

Katerina continued her vocal training in New York and The San Francisco Bay Area with Gabriel Goodman (Professor of the Berklee Voice Department, Boston USA), JD Walter (Vocal Instructor of The Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Netherlands), Raz Kennedy (San Fransisco and Los Angeles Premiere Vocal Coach) and others. In 2016 Katerina became a student at the CVI ( Complete Vocal Institute in Denmark  - Europe's largest institute for pro and semi-pro singers) in Denmark. She is enrolled in a 3-year program which will earn her a teaching credential as an authorized CVT teacher and she will be one of the first Russian natives to present this vocal technique to the world.

Katerina has already performed at The Warfield Theatre, Yoshi’s (Oakland), Stritch Jazz Cafe, California Jazz Conservatory, SF Jazz Center, Black Cat among others, and already has performed with such notable NY and Bay Area musicians as  Akira Tana , Adam Shulman, Charles Mc Neal, Peter Horvath, Mike Olmos , Mads Tolling, Kenny Washington, Celso Alberti, Jason Lewis, to name a few .

In 2016 Katerina became featured vocalists /soloist with the  SFJazz Monday Night Big Band as well as one of the finalist winners of Living Jazz Search West 2016. As a vocal instructor, Katerina just recently opened her own Mellowtones Vocal Studio in San Jose and San Francisco.

She has just finished her debut CD “Mirror”. The project features some wonderful musicians including Airto Moreira, Kenny Washington, Akira Tana, Mads Tolling, Adam Shulman among others. Produced by bassist Gary Brown. Katerina’s versatility is accompanied with a rare honest, sensual and creative style all her own. Audiences everywhere have been seduced and thrilled by her natural charisma and joy in performing.

Gary Brown is a skilled and versatile bassist on both acoustic and electric basses, his clear solid foundation, as well as his melodic rainbow of color and counterpoint, established him as a much sought after component for major recording, performance and production projects around the world. While enrolled in San Jose State University's Art/Design/Music program Gary came to realize that music was his true calling and made the decision to make it his life and his career. he has brought a unique sound and approach to each and every endeavor he has been involved with. In the past 30 years Gary has recorded and performed with such notable artist as Flora Purim & Airto, Steve Winwood, George Duke, Santana ,Lyle Mays, Azar Lawrence , Narada Michael Walden, Gregg Rolie, Dianne Reeves, Roy Ayres, Ernie Watts, Jeff Beck ,Torninho Horta, Larry Coryell, Pharaoh Saunders, Eddie Henderson Andy Narrell, Pete and Sheila (Sheila E.) Escovedo. Bernie Worell, Patrice Rushen. Gary has composed music for film and television with Pray for Rain, a film and soundtrack production team whose credits include work for major cable networks HBO, Lifetime, Showtime and Cinemax, as well as for the major television networks ABC, NBC, and CBS credits include, the cult film Sid & Nancy, The Linguini Incident (starring David Bowie)., Straight to Hell, Trust Me, Zandalee (with Judge Reinhold and Nicholas Cage) The Fox television series Key West. to name a few,

Currently dividing his time performing with Katerina Brown & Gary Brown Group, Greg Rolie, Narada Michael Walden, and the Rebeca Mauleon Group, Akira Tana, Babatunde Lea, Gary continues to compose, perform and produce with various artists and is writing music for his first solo project.
