KBK Coming home for CD Bash
Entrenched in an East Coast radio blitz, singer/songwriter Kevin B. Klein (KBK) is coming home for a CD release party at Holly Meadows Golf and Banquet Center. The Capac- based musician will be signing copies of his debut album, “Good Day To Be Alive.” Klein will be joined by DJ Leto Covington of WSGR 91.3 FM (SC4) radio in Port Huron, who will play selections from the album, inter- mixed with live singing performances from the artist. Born in Detroit and raised in East Detroit, Klein moved to the Capac area in 2000, for
the purpose of raising a family and refining his musical skills.
Realizing his singing/ songwriting ambitions were not to be achieved locally, he headed to Nashville in hopes of finding greater opportunity and an expanded talent base. “I wanted to find the best
guys in the business, and they’re in Nashville,” said“That’s why it’s called ‘Music City.”It’s where dreams come true.” It didn’t take long before Klein met up with some out- standing Nashville musicians, including Dave Baker, lead guitarist for Kellie Pickler and numerous other popular country artists.
The collaboration with Baker ultimately led to his playing lead guitar, singing back-up vocals and producing “Good Day To Be Alive.” Other top Nashville musicians appearing on the album include: Matt Heasley, key- boards; Cameron Roberts, bass guitar; Jay Tooke, drums; and Leland Grant, acoustic guitar/back-up vocals
and assistant production. Describing himself as an “indie artist,” Klein said is songs are as diverse and universal as his thoughts and moods. “I want to write songs that people from everywhere can enjoy,” he said. “This is an album about my life, and I feel it is relatable to everyone, everywhere.” Klein’s appeal is already attracting a loyal fan base at college radio stations and is now spreading to mainstream markets. The Michigan musician has been interviewed by J.J. Johnson of 104.3 FM in Detroit, 101.4 Banana Radio in Flint, Boston University’s WTBU, RIC Radio in Rhode Island, and is getting regular airplay at Syracuse University. On Nov. 27, he will be interviewed live by Omelette & Friends’ morning show on WKLT Radio in Traverse City. Back in Nashville, the artist’s second home, Klein was recently nominated for 2013 “Male Vocalist of the
Year” and “Songwriter of the Year” at the Nashville Universe Awards. While making waves on front, the national musical Klein said he is nevertheless eager to return home to Capac. “It’s a special
place for me,” he said. “Capac is where I wrote all of my songs. It’s a place here I can think and write. It’s where I find my magic.” Klein is hoping to see many of his local friends and loyal fans. - Tom Weaning
