This band tapped into the dark side of the human emotion though its music and lyrics. The audience felt as well as heard it via the mournful guitars riffs of pain and angst. Within the pain and angst, there were ominous messages worth heeding.What SouthSide likes about Kelroy was their varied music style which took the audience from one end of the emo spectrum to another.Kelroy’s opening song was instrumentally moving that wasn’t weighed down deep in sad moodiness. It was spiritually uplifting and immediately grabbed the audience’s attention. And it wasn’t all dark emo music during this set. There were subtle hints of “happier” moments too yet you need a good ear to catch it. When it reaches that “happy” spot, it will certainly fuel a fiery momentum which makes you move to the rhythm. Fearless fans. SouthSide highly recommends catching Kelroy.”

Kelroy is a five-piece rock band hailing from Chicago, incorporating a mix of post rock, psychedelia, punk and blues. They are comprised of vocals, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and trombone. Kelroy have self-released three albums, Bloodshot Hungry Paranoid (2009), Somewhere Renegade (2011) and Beautiful Monsters (2015). Their music has appeared on NPR public radio, including WBEZ and Vocalo. Kelroy has performed throughout various venues in their hometown, including Metro, House of Blues, Double Door, Lincoln Hall, to name a few . The band has also played the growing and popular Latin alternative rock festival, Ruido Fest in 2016 and 2019. And in 2018 Kelroy was invited to play SXSW in Austin TX. In addition to their local following, Kelroy has expanded their fan base with tours to New York, Denver, Milwaukee and Cleveland. Look for new music in 2020 from Kelroy and on the road as well.
