With his distinct voice, lyrical diversity, creativity and originality, Kassan “Kazzie” Sherman definitely has next up. A Newark, NJ native, Kazzie grew up on Brick City’s 19th street.

That street also produced the likes of Redman. As a result, Kazzie grew up seeing Red, Method Man and Erick Sermon battling on the block and it was there that he realized that he wanted to do the same.

Kazzie received his first taste of success at the age of 19 with his smash hit “We Don’t F*ck With That” featuring Waka Flocka. That hit caught the attention of E1 Records who later signed him.

After parting ways with E1 Records, Kazzie went on to sign a production deal with music executive Malcolm Miles, CEO of Dreams Comes True Music Group. Since signing with DCT Music Group, Kazzie has released the highly successful banger “Rodeo” featuring the “Trap Queen” emcee, Fetty Wap and Mr. Wonder, which generated over 2.5 million Soundcloud plays.

Kazzie keeps the momentum going by following up with his new track “Throw Some Money” featuring Brooklyn’s Hustle Hard representative Maino with production by platinum producer Cash Money AP. - AHH Staff

“Throw Some Money” is the new strip club anthem with its hypnotizing, repetitive hook, and infectious beat that Kazzie murders with his clever wordplay. The energy on this record is explosive and Maino bodies the track with his witty lyrics and classic New York flow.

Kazzie’s latest project promises to build upon the existing excitement surrounding his developing career, while showcasing his quality music and abilities as a rapper. -

Rich Today (Remix) Kazzie Feat. Fetty Wap, Snootie Wild & Montana Of 300 Editor Rating:VERY HOTTTTT

User Rating:HOTTTTT 75% (53) Rate it! Kazzie's new "Rich Today" remix features Fetty Wap, Snootie Wild, and Montana of 300.

Kazzie, fka Kazzie Pop, has been buzzing for awhile outta Jersey. He had a collab with Waka Flocka back in 2013, and earlier this year, he joined with Jersey's biggest sensation, Fetty Wap on "Rich Today," which has since become his biggest hit. And it's likely to get a lot bigger now, as Kazzie has just dropped a new remix with Montana of 300 and Snootie Wild.

It's a mean lineup of some of the hottest young street rappers around, and each guy possesses his own unique flow, making for an exciting listen the whole way through. The "Rich Today" remix appears on Kazzie's new mixtape, Heat the Streets Up.

What do y'all think of Kazzie? We'd like to see further collabs from any combination of these guys.

Quotable Lyrics

Up in the projects by my muhfuckin' self
Down in that work, ain't need no muhfuckin' help
I couldn't help it, call me selfish
All this mula, I'm gon' make it
Like the devil, I'ma burn it

If you’ve been paying attention to hip hop’s landscape, New Jersey is aiming to reclaim its prominence in the mainstream.

Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature, Rah Digga and Redman are the usual suspects when naming the greatest that come out of the Garden State in the 90s and early 2000s.

Amid the euphoria from the past, NJ hip hop is in good hands with the surge of a new crop of talent.

Think we’re lying? Guess you’re not familiar with Kazzie. The lyricist and word splitter gained his buzz when he jumped in the booth with Wacka Flocka and appeared on his We Don’t F With That.

A Newark, NJ native, Kazzie grew up on Brick City’s 19th street. That street also produced the likes of Redman. As a result, Kaz grew up seeing Red, Meth and Erick Sermon battling on the block and it was there that he realized that he wanted to do the same. He wants to be great and he carries his city with him. “My family and my city inspire me,” he said.

And his content reflects that. “What makes me different is that there is not a lot of people telling their story; their real story and telling what people honestly want to hear,” he said.”There’s not a lot of people being real right now,it’s just a lot of talking about stuff that doesn’t matter at this point. There’s not a lot of people talking about the struggle and the things going on in these cities that people want to hear about.

At 20 years old, Kazzie is genuinely an old soul. Most folks in his age bracket would claim to grow up listening to Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and more. Not him. He was a huge fan of Big L. “At his age and the things he was going through and the city that he was from, he was one of the most creative,” said Kazzie. “He was able to manipulate his flow.”

Speaking of manipulating flow and grabbing attention, another New Jersey native by the name of Fetty Wap is killing the game with smash hit after smash hit. Both he and Kazzie are actually cousins. Fetty is impressed on what Kazzie is able to do. “Kazzie is Family,” said Fetty Wap. “He’s another hard working artist from New Jersey. We’re from the same state doing the same thing.”

Any advice for the young lad, Kazzie, Mr. Wap? “Just keep grinding and staying true to his music,” he said.

Yeah OK (Remix)DJ Self Feat. Kazzie, Yo Gotti & FabolousEditor Rating:HOTTTTT

User Rating:HOTTTTT 74% (30) Rate it! Fabolous adds a verse to DJ Self's "Yeah OK".

We first heard DJ Self's "Yeah OK" way back in November 2013, at which the song had a verse from Kazzie as well as Rick Ross. The subsequent remix replaced Rozay with seasoned Memphis rapper Yo Gotti, but the remixes aren't through with just yet.

Keeping both Gotti and the original Kazzie verse in place, DJ Self has added Fabolous into the equation, with the rapper supplying a surprisingly melodic take, that of course doesn't shy away from punchlines.

No way of telling if this will stand as the final version of the single, or there are more remixes to come.

Some artists spend years trying to find their big break into the rap game, but Kassan "Kazzie Pop" Sherman is looking to make 2013 his breakout year. Already off to an admirable start, the Nu World Era Music Group rapper already has a number of major record labels tugging at his lapels in hopes of acquiring his musical talents. Hooking up with big ticket rapper Waka Flocka Flame for his latest single "We Don’t F--k With That" has helped the New Jersey MC establish a solid buzz south of the Mason Dixie line. Meanwhile, his "Get It" collaboration with Hot 97’s DJ Enuff is helping him generate interest up North. BET.com recently sat down with the 20-year-old wordsmith to see how he’s handling the expectations of being the new kid on the block and working with Flockaveli.

BET.com: What’s the origin of your rap name? It’s very distinctive.

Kazzie Pop: My name is Kassan and all my friends call me Kazzie, but I used to be in a group called The Popular Kids with Driicky Graham. We had a record with Gucci Mane called "We Robbed Gucci" and I was just representing for the movement. That’s where the 'pop' came from. I’m not going to lie, I might drop the 'pop' because it does seem a little childish. I’m rolling with it for now though.

How'd you get Waka Flocka Flame as a feature on your new single “We Don’t F--k With That”?

I got a beat sent to me from this producer named Cloud Nine. It’s a production company actually. But when I heard the beat, I got so excited and started working on the hook and then the verses. Once I went to the studio and recorded it, when it was done you could actually almost hear Waka on the record. That same kind of energy and concept just sounded like it would be perfect for Waka. We made a couple calls and he loved the song. We went down to Atlanta to record and he was in love with it. Basically the record found him.

The song is very energetic and club friendly. What was the atmosphere like in the studio recording with Waka?

As soon as he heard the beat, he started going crazy and shaking his dreads. But when he heard my verse, he was likem "Wow you went off. I’m going in just like that because you went in on this record." Another thing I picked up from that studio session is that sometimes when you write your verses, you don't have to try so hard. I don't have to wreck my brain trying to finish a verse, because Waka was recording his four bars at a time. Like, he would record four bars, go do something else like shoot pool or eat and comeback in 15 minutes and record four more. I learned a quicker way of working.

DJ Enuff’s "Get It," which you're featured on, is gaining in popularity throughout the Tri-State. How did you end up on that song?

When he [DJ Enuff] heard the record "We Don’t F--k With That." He was so excited about me and he told me I was going to be the next big thing. I ended up doing another record called "Get It" and when Enuff heard it, he was like, "Man, I want this to be my new record." In my whole 20 years of growing up here, I’ve never even heard of Enuff having his own record. So when he asked to make "Get It" his official record, I almost jumped to Mars.

When can fans expect a solo mixtape from you?

Honestly, I have plans of putting a mixtape together, but right now I’m focusing on these singles. I’m getting a lot of records done so I’ll put one out eventually.

How close are you to making a decision on what label you’ll sign with?

It’s a couple labels hollering like Universal, E1 and Sony. They’re all interested in what I’m doing, but I’m not sure who I want to go to yet. I want to go to a major, but I don’t want to sit on a long line waiting for my project to drop, so I’m still working. I try and pretend like all of this isn’t going on because I want to keep that hunger in me. Because once you think you’re on, you start to get comfortable and I don’t have time to get comfortable.

Cassidy never quite fades into the Philadelphia underground, and verses like these are part of the reason. The battle rhymer turns a braggadocios, aggressive set of bars on the remix to DJ Self’s “Yeah OK,” where barbs include “And I know you thots, Photoshop on y’all flick pictures/ It’s a scam on y’all Instagram and y’all Twit pictures are fictitious.” The opposite sex’s transgressions are a running theme for Cassidy; he also called them out on “Lookin Ass Bitches.”—Brian Josephs

Power 105.1’s DJ Self has set up a New Jersey-to-Miami connection with his newest single.
The single, titled “Yeah OK,” features Jersey’s Kazzie and Maybach Music boss Rick Ross over a menacing, Lex Luger-type production. It will be featured on Self’s upcoming mixtape, Expanding My Business, which doesn’t have a release date yet.

Now, under the tutelage of music industry executive, Malcolm Miles and his organization, the DCT Music Group, Kazzie is poised for greatness.

But, Kazzie is no stranger to the game. In 2009, the 6-foot-6-inch rapper linked up with New Jersey indie imprint Nu World Era Music Group (NWEMG) and formed Popular Kids with Driicky Graham (Snapbacks & Tattoos). The group was short lived but birthed the exorbitant radio single, “We Robbed Gucci” featuring Gucci Mane a year later.

Since embarking on his solo career, Kazzie’s efforts have afforded him opportunities to work with industry notables like legendary producer No ID, as a part of his No ID Tour, as well as JadakissJuelz Santana, Sheek Louch and Jim Jones to name a few.

Further showcasing his lyricism, Kazzie stepped up his viral visibility by releasing searing freestyles over Lil Wayne’s “Mega Man” and 2 Chainz’s, “No Lie,” on YouTube. Connect with Kazzie online for impromptu displays of his raw talent any day the week.

After signing a production deal with DCT Music Group, Kazzie released "Rodeo" the highly successful banger featuring “Trap Queen" emcee, Fetty Wap which generated over 2.5 million plays on Soundcloud. Expanding creatively with noteworthy collaborations, Kazzie keeps the momentum going through 2016 and beyond by following up with his sizzling new track "Throw Some Money" featuring Brooklyn's Hustle Hard representative Maino.
