Kaya Nova

Kaya Nova, formerly known as Kaya, is 23 year-old R&B singer-songwriter and producer from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Influenced by classic soul, neo-soul, and the current wave of alternative R&B, her sound is a bridge between the generations of music she has grown up with. Channeling artists such as Solange, D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, and more, she strives to tell a story not only with her voice, but with her producing as well.

Kaya Nova’s lyrics offer a vulnerable reality to the world of love, as it pertains to the many aspects in her life. The sounds she composes are the perfect blend of abstract and simplistic, encompassing themes from popular R&B to Jazz and Funk. Having studied music at Spelman College and Berklee College of Music, Kaya Nova has trained in both classical and contemporary styles which has prepared her to be the dynamic performer she is today. When on stage she works tirelessly to give herself first to the meaning of the song and secondly to her audience. Live performance is a large part of her artistry and she hopes one day to follow in the footsteps of captivating performers like Beyoncé, Céline Dion, Patti Labelle, and Michael Jackson.

Kaya Nova hopes to create music that inspires her fans to be their authentic selves, while pushing the boundary of what it means to be “normal.” She released her debut EP entitled “Dear 7even” this upcoming August, a body of work reflective of her roller coaster experiences with love, relationships, and black culture. The single "Hoodie" was released July 7th to much support from her growing fans. Her music offers a different aspect to the popularized genre of alternative R&B, infused with pop and neo-soul influences. She describes her sound as “the lovechild between trap music vibes and live band R&B.”
