Bursting out of New York’s music scene, Justin Henry is taking the hip-hop genre by storm. The rebel on the rise is a musical force to be reckoned with and has established roots as an audio engineer for Kanye West, Jim Jones, LL Cool J, Nelly and Fergie.
New York native and raised in Baltimore, MD, Henry fell in love with music at a very young age. After attending Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus, Henry made rounds amongst the music market when he landed an internship at Atlantic Records. The A&R assistant of the label discovered his talents and encouraged him to mix at the studio.
Through the label’s referrals, Henry then landed another internship at Chung King Studios. His hard work paid off when he became the professional audio engineer for the label. While he continued to work for some big names in the music industry, Henry began to write and produce songs for A-list musicians.
Fast forward to today, Henry has now released his debut album Rebelontherise, and is performing at different venues mainly in the New York and Maryland area. On the horizon is his much anticipated April 22nd show in Brooklyn, NY. At this show, Henry will be the opening act for music producer Ron Browz and Hip-Hop recording artist Fred the Godson.
“I’m very excited to be a part of this show. This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for to really break into the hip-hop music scene. I feel the Brooklyn show is my official intro to the public." said Henry. "I just want to continue to grow my career and passion in this industry by doing what I do best." - Examiner

Could you give us some insight into your musical background?
“I’ve been into music in some aspect all my life and really got into hip hop heavy in my early teens. I never took it seriously but always was working on songs. It started out by simply writing; then I met my home boy Mike “Live” Evans and that’s when I started getting into production. He was already making beats at the time and I caught on kinda quick and it just went from there.”
Who are your biggest musical influences?
“I get this question a lot and some flack for what I’m about to say, but I don’t have a musical influence. I just like taking nothing and turning it into something great (sonically). Of course I had favorite artists growing up, because everyone does, but I never heard a song that made me go “I want to rap/sing now”.” - Tom Lohrmann
