The unsigned Junior Rocket Scientist captivated the crowd not just with its eclectic mix of death-pop and garage rock, but the ability of every member of the band to play each instrument. Throughout the set, each member rotated between bass, guitar and drums. - LA Record
Junior Rocket Scientist is an indie rock trio hailing from Garden City. They formed in 2010 and began playing shows in the Boise area soon after. Their music is heavily reliant on bass and drums, which allows for the guitar to be more like a garnish to their sound rather than the main ingredient. They draw connections to psychedelic and garage rock but also keep a promise to a dark, Mellon Collie- esque sound that resonates through every song.
JRS released their first full-length EP Lady Alice back in 2013. Every song on Lady Alice is unpredictable, original, and passionate. It gives you the feeling it’s something you’ve heard before, but you know you haven’t. My only complaint is the album makes several references to the famous novel Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass, which I found as an over-used reference.
Overall, The band members are very talented musicians and have woven together interesting, well-crafted songs. Last year I saw them perform at Treefort and was blown away; the lead singer reminded me of a young David Gilmour. Great things are in store for this band in the future and I can’t wait to experience them.
The band will be playing with Psychic Rites and Aan on July 24th at The Crux. Check them out below and get your ass down to that show! - Boise Pulse Music
The crowd slowly made its way to the middle of the pit and the outer edges around the bar as the Junior Rocket Scientist prepared their equipment. These guys from Idaho not only entertained the crowd with their 90s garage rock sound, but they demonstrated their versatile talent in each instrument. Each member played either the guitar, bass or drums, and jammed freely to a very pleased crowd. - Sailing Paper Boats
After Blockhead I popped over to El Korah Shrine for some grunge rock in Junior Rocket Scientist. These guys have such an excellent sound to their music. You’ve got to check them out. - Killing Sasquatch

Bio
JRS is a rock trio from Boise, ID. Often compared to Joy Division and Sonic Youth, their songs are driving and melancholic, with guitars and viola bending and crashing through waves of delay and distortion. They released 'Lady Alice EP' in the spring of 2013 prior to a West Coast tour with Built to Spill. Having played together for more than five years, singer/guitarist/violist Britton Glenn and bassist Brian Anglin joined drummer Christopher Smith in July of 2014 to form their most potent incarnation to date. They are releasing a single in October 2014 in anticipation of an upcoming LP.
