The track is comprised of Julia’s soulful pop vocals that are carefully layered on top of her grand-sounding piano playing. She lyrically expresses a newfound perspective of how she can be herself without worrying about other’s opinions. “I think the best part of ‘Sun’ for me was that it didn’t take much thinking to write. That rarely happens to me anymore, where I can just churn out a tune without fiddling on the piano for a while before anything comes to me. This one just fell out,” Julia says on describing the writing process. She adds, “I was listening to the band ‘Bread’ and had the weirdest emotional episode of being so grateful for music. I immediately ran to my piano and wrote ‘Sun’ in a half hour.” The visuals for “Sun” consists of Julia welcoming the viewer to explore her positive environment of self appreciation and joy. New York indie singer-songwriter Julia Gargano is young, but her talent is far beyond her years. On her latest single “Sun,” Gargano’s versatile vocals stun, a mature cocktail of soulful wisps and pop trills. The sugary piano ballad opens immediately with low vocal tones and colorful snaps in the distance. Next, the hypnotic chorus kicks in with Gargano singing “All I felt was rain for a long, long time / But now I’ve found the sun,” aided by background harmony that fills the track with wild melody. The lyrics in “Sun” are gentle and relatable love lines, like “You say my name like a summer breeze / You wear my heart like it’s on your sleeve”. Julia Gargano is an indie singer-songwriter from New York, but unlike the typical pop singer-songwriter, she makes her signature sound with being influenced by the acoustic masterminds of Paul Simon & Rufus Wainright but using a progressive Thom Yorke state of mind. She is the millennial generation’s breath of fresh air regarding to her rich soulful alto range & exquisite songwriting skills. Her talent has acquired Julia numerous of live concerts at the infamous Bitter End Rock Club in New York.
