"Metal Odyssey "Sick Fantasy" Album Review"

J.RAD – This seasoned and accomplished Hard Rock band originates from North Babylon, New York and what a hell of a band! The Hard Rock identity of sound that J.RAD plays I’ve found to be contagious and it’s my Metal duty to spread the Metal word! The new J.RAD studio album, Sick Fantasy, has elevated my love for guitar driven, heavy hittin’ and memorable American made Hard Rock! This album is so good that it’s one of the best Hard Rock albums I’ve listened to this year; with no pretentious bullshit to be heard, just pure 100% quality songs! Hard Rock hallelujah!

Lead vocalist Gino Rudolph has a tremendous voice, in my Metal opinion; he sings each song with such powerful conviction and emotion that I find it irresistible to applaud. In my Metal opinion, Gino can stand aside the best of vocalists in the Modern Hard Rock scene today, seriously, I find him that talented and fun to listen to. Drummer Mo Sticky is an obvious talent and flawlessly lays down the beats that send each song into their respective Hard Rock grandeur.

Guitarist Jared Cannata is so damn impressive with his fret work, this guy can freaking shred! Jared lays down so many crunchy, fun-tastic riffs and solos that It’s easy to lose count of them all. My ears have informed me loud and clear that Jared Cannata can sonically dazzle with his axe. Whoa! With this level of musical talent impactful songs, Sick Fantasy is a non-stop ride through Hard Rock la-la land and I couldn’t be more honest than that judgement! This may all sound too good to be true, only it’s TRUE. Stone would never pump up an album unless it’s psyche-out city and this is exactly that, man!

The bassist keeping the rhythmic thunder rolling on this Sick Fantasy album you’ll hear is Russ Zutto and he’s since left the band on amicable terms. Therefore, it looks like J.RAD is searching for a new bassist to join their powerful band. The softest number on this album is Push and even this song Rocks. Overall, there is a sinister and bleak theme to this album lyrically; yet the up-tempo rhythm and melodies of the songs are what elevates my mood!

This album is for fans of Sevendust, Adelitas Way, CAVO, Cold, Pop Evil to FFDP and all in-between! Hard Rock and Metal fans alike can surely find something sonically cool about J.RAD. Man, this Sick Fantasy album has me elated and that’s what great albums and bands are supposed to do for me… or anyone else for that matter. Metal be thy name – Stone. - Stone, Metal Odyssey

"North Jersey Notes: J.Rad (4/30/13)"

I’ve been hearing a lot about this band from Long Island called J.Rad. They’ve been getting on some pretty good bills and by doing that it generated an interest, for me anyway. I logged onto the band’s website, jradrocks.com, where I got a chance to listen to their 2012 release, Falling Apart, and I actually liked it. The songs “I Won’t Break,” “Bastard,” “Only One I Want” and “Falling Apart” were well-crafted and well-arranged according to my ears. Singer Gino Rudolph’s voice is perfect for these songs and is harmonized nicely by the brother duo of Jared and Jordan Cannata.

Since forming J.Rad back in 2006, brothers Jared (guitars) and Jordan (drums) Cannata went on a worldwide hunt auditioning singers hoping to find the right one that fit their musical vision. In walked vocalist Gino Rudolph, who rehearsed with the band only once, but the three knew instantly that there was instant chemistry in the room. Eight years later, Gino still stands tall as the trademarked voice of the band J.Rad. The final piece of the puzzle was discovered in 2011 when both a local radio DJ and Mark “The Animal” Mendoza from Twisted Sister suggested bassist Russ Zutto. So, the boys invited Russ down for an audition, and he claimed his rightful place at the J.Rad table. After nearly a decade, the Cannata brothers along with Gino and Russ are finally making themselves noticed on this rabid music scene.

A couple of years ago, J.Rad released Falling Apart, which received some raving reviews and garnered the band some local attention. Here in 2014, the band is gearing up to release their next as-yet-untitled full-length with a slew of shows to follow in support of their new CD. J.Rad have also been posting some in-studio webisodes on YouTube to give fans an inside look at their recording process. You have to check these out when you get a chance and give J.Rad a listen now at jradrocks.com or catch them live tonight (4/30) at Santos Party House in NYC with Saliva, Halo To Havoc, Cracked Alice and Ghosts Of Eden. - Aquarian Weekly

J. Rad is an aggressive, hard rock band hailing from New York that has been pounding the pavement for over a decade.  J. Rad’s sound is diverse, ranging from melodic to heavy, and modern to vintage.

The band is known for their very physical and energetic live performances, which leave audiences wanting more. According to Aces Magazine, “Every performance is always hi-energy and exciting. Explosive, sexy, loud, intriguing, and has a lot of adrenaline.” John Lamont (In A Crowd) said, “J. Rad has the "it" factor. I can say all the usual things as. This band is tight. They have great stage presence. Good songwriting skills and so on. Yes they have all that. But too really appreciate J. Rad one must experience them live.”

At the inception, brothers Jared and Jordan (Mo Sticky) Cannata were auditioning singers in hope of finding the voice their musical vision demanded...enter Gino. After a single studio rehearsal, chemistry was apparent. Twelve years later, Gino is still the trademark voice of J. Rad.

2015 brings new blood to the band with the addition of bassist Kareem "The Machine" Clarke. Kareem brings with him extreme talent, reliability, and his own unique flavor to the band's sound. His presence is bound to add a whole new aspect to the band's music and live show.

Over the years J. Rad has had the opportunity to share the stage with many prominent artists such as Scott Stapp (Creed), Saliva, Filter, Gemini Syndrome, Living Colour, Twisted Sister, Vince Neil (Motlley Crue), Bret Michaels (Poison), Mountain, Eye Empire, Saving Abel, Zach Myers (Shinedown), Styper, LA Guns, Blue Oyster Cult, Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Winter and many others.

In 2010, J. Rad released their first EP entitled “Rise” with producer David Ivory (Halestorm, Silvertide, The Roots, Candlelight Red). “Rise” received great reviews from audiences and critics. This was the catalyst for the band’s continued work with Ivory on their second EP, 2012’s “Falling Apart”, which Aquarian Weekly calls, “well-crafted and well-arranged…You have to check these guys out”.

J. Rad’s new album “Sick Fantasy” is a new direction for the band, exploring J.Rad’s darker side with heavy, driving songs that tell deep and twisted stories.  Metal Odyssey said, "This album is so good that it’s one of the best Hard Rock albums I’ve listened to this year".  Produced, engineered, and mixed by band co-founders Jared Cannata and Mo Sticky, “Sick Fantasy” is the embodiment of what J. Rad is, was, and will be.
