Bio
Born and raised in New Jersey, Joseph Quiles (JQ) is a smooth jazz artist, arranger, and producer with over a decade of experience creating and performing music. His musical journey began in the church, where he developed his sound and discovered his gift at a young age. As a teen, JQ was selected for the prestigious Herbie Hancock Institute’s high school program, performing with jazz legends like Jimmy Heath, Antonio Hart, and Tim Green. After high school, he continued his studies at Essex County College before launching his professional career. Today, JQ is a rising voice in the contemporary jazz world—merging smooth jazz, pop, and classic jazz into a fresh, soulful sound. His 2024 releases include a holiday rendition of “Joy to the World” and his newest single “The Journey,” both showcasing his signature groove-driven style. In addition to his solo work, JQ is a highly in-demand bassist and performer in NYC’s vibrant live music scene. He currently holds down the low end as a bassist filling in with the Cafe Wha? House Band, and performs regularly with Shine Band at The Groove in Greenwich Village.
