Joey the Composer

Maine based MC, producer & multi-instrumentalist, Joey the Composer, has built a name in the greater Portland area by collaborating with local artists and crafting a sound that embellishes originality and demonstrates dedication to the elemental nature of Hip-Hop. Classically trained and well seasoned in jazz trumpet playing, Joey utilizes a detailed knowledge of music theory in his beats and compositions.

Born in Boston and raised in Maine, the seeds of Joey’s sound were provided by his upbringing within a poverty-stricken, but intensely spiritual household. Being no stranger to hardships, Joey has made it a lifelong goal to to use his experience and knowledge as an insightful fulcrum for personal understanding. Having a particular interest in History, subject matter for Joey the Composer draws connections between past and current events, challenging listeners to think for themselves and stand against injustices we collectively face.
