There’s a steady rhythm that opens the track “Ease,” the latest offering from singer-songwriter Joel Ansett. The unwavering beat at the heart of the song belies the experience that led to its creation. Ansett, like many during this tumultuous time, has struggled to find his footing, with anxieties running through his mind. “Prayer has kept me going,” he tells American Songwriter. “My wife is also an amazing steadying force.” - American Songwriter
"The sonic lovechild of John Legend and The Tallest Man on Earth, he’s a songwriter to watch. He reminds me of Ben Harper not so much in style but in his daring creative impulses to draw just the right amount from seemingly disparate genres. Musical genres like folk can become so beloved that they become stagnant, so Ansett is particularly refreshing to hear." -

"Our next video is one of the most amazing covers I've ever heard. I was about half way through before I realized this wasn't a Jason Mraz song, but actually an acoustic version of Eminem's "Lose Yourself," sung by Joel Ansett, who I hope goes on to eventually cover every song ever made." - CBS News
The song opens with really simplistic, slick and mellow guitar riff, Ansett then comes in with his vocals, which are so natural – no false vibrato, no put on accent, no forced notes. This man just sings in a seamless and casual sounding manner throughout. The plucked bass is to die for. For me, this is one of the most relaxing tunes I have heard in 2019 so far, no exaggeration. -
Based in Denver and currently unsigned, Joel Ansett delivers a perfect blend of R&B with Folk-Pop. Drawing influences from One Republic to Bill Withers, Joel is back with latest single “Slow Down”. Best way to describe the tune would have to be that Joel is simply not slowing down anytime soon. Timeless and somewhat delicate, the latest single is the first single from his upcoming album. -
Bio
Ansett is a Lennon Award winning singer/songwriter based in Denver, CO. He represents a new era of independent artist, inviting listeners to act as his label and funding three full-length albums to date. He got his start by playing every local open mic he could find, and has since found fans all over the country with more than 30 million streams online, a song placed in Marvel’s “The Punisher” , and the title of “songwriter to watch” from The Huffington Post. The songs combine folk and R&B, and beyond the genre, Artist Review wrote: “This music is soul therapy.” While his catalog continues to find millions of listeners online, the most meaningful aspect of his artistry is the one-to-one, personal connection it creates with the listener.
