Combining the talents of lyricist, vocalist, and producer, Asian-American Rapper jCrizzy represents Northern California’s Bay Area of San Francisco. Joseph Gerard Crisol aka “jCrizzy” was born in Queens, New York in 1986. He was raised in Manila, Philippines, and eventually moved to Northern California in the early 90’s. As a young child, his parents worked as live-in caregivers at a home for individuals with mental disabilities.

While most children grew up in environments they could call their own, jCrizzy and his family started off in a single room with next to nothing. With their relentless drive and determination, his parents were able to send him to a good school in a good area, free from the woes of the free world. And after twelve years of hardship, the owner of the “carehome” decided to sell the business to his parents. Today, through his music, jCrizzy urges us to hold our heads, and live each day like it is our last as e shares with us his story from tenement to townhome.

here are three major reasons to appreciate jCrizzy: Substance, lyrical versatility, and production. On “The Life”, jCrizzy goes with the flow of the new wave of rappers who strive to achieve lyrical dominance in the game by clearly shouting out their materialistic infatuation with ‘living life to the fullest’. Simply put, the man focuses on the fact that we waste too much time ‘caught up in the day-to-day events and the monotony of working and paying bills’, instead of enjoying our time on this earth, which is rather limited!

As a whole, this is a very personal track, in the sense that jCrizzy is not afraid to expose his dreams and tell a story as he sees it. Much of the appeal comes from his song being easy to relate to. Considering from where jCrizzy started out, desiring “The Life” is both a legitimate request and bold affirmation.

Not only does jCrizzy have a tune for the radio he actually has a great song about love, life, sex and making your dreams come true even though the odds are stacked against you. He also has a great beat and a great flow going on in “The Life”.
