Bio
Born and raised in small town Nebraska, Jason Mayer approaches music like any true Midwesterner would; with hard work, a blue-collar attitude, and a desire to tell stories. Mayer has been playing live for nearly 15 years, as a solo musician and with several bands over the years. Most recently he fronted the country-rock band Wasted Highway, and has since decided to focus on a solo career. He mixes country, rock, folk, and bluegrass, with a unique voice and style to make his sound unmistakable. You can catch him playing on big stages to small bars, no venue is to big or too small, as the love of music and the love of interacting with an audience is what drives him. This desire has led him to travel all over the country to perform his songs and meet new people!
Mayer was nominated, with his band Wasted Highway, for Outstanding Country Artist of the year by the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards 2 years in a row! He has opened for many national artists such as David Allen Coe, Reckless Kelly, Jimmie Allen, Cody Canada, Jason Boland, Kylie Frey, Read Southall Band, Josh Ward, the Davisson Brothers, and more. Mayer has released 4 original albums with various bands over his career and has had 24 different songs that he wrote or co-wrote receive radio airplay, both locally and nationally. His highly anticipated follow up single “Old Man” was released on July 14 and is available everywhere music is sold. It is already garnering high praise and consistent radio airplay. A nationwide tour starting in November 2021 is being planned, and dates will be announced soon. Mayer also released 2 singles "Here For a Good Time" and "Beer Makes it Better" on September 29, 2021. With 2 more singles "Songbird" and "Too Damn Drunk" to be released in the coming months. Original songs are mixed with a seemingly endless supply of cover songs that provide something for fans of every kind of music. Live shows are high energy, sing-along, dancing fun!
