Bio
I am a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, and so much more.
Although I've been dabbling in music for as long as I can remember, the last few years of my life have been pretty transitional for me. I grew up in a spiritual household and went from listening to mostly Gospel as a kid, to making beats and recording Rap and R&B late high-school. I left for Greensboro, NC to attend college and it was there that I really got the chance to develop, musically. A friend of mine introduced me to the digital audio workstation FL studio and it opened my eyes to what I was capable of. I produced and was featured on projects as a part of Chocolate City with a group of my close friends on the campus of UNC Greensboro.
Then, early in 2011, I rediscovered my love for acoustic guitar and started writing more. I moved away from rap and started singing. Instead of telling fictional stories in my songs, I started putting my life to melody. I started to hang out with even more artistic individuals and was encouraged to start performing around Greensboro at open mics. I started getting invited to participate in local shows and have since performed in Greensboro's finest venues. The love I received for sharing myself through song was humbling. The fact that people would approach me after a performance and express to me "I've been there.." or "I needed to hear that.." made me want to write more, to let people know they're not alone. I knew this was something I wanted do for a living.
After almost 3 years of writing and performing, I'm ready to put out the songs of my life for the world to hear. On February 22, 2014, I will be releasing my first full-length solo project entitled 'Drum Breaks and Broken Strings'. The songs tell a cyclical narrative of love and loss and love and loss. The only fitting genre for this project is one I like to call "90's Hip-Hop Inspired Pop Rock&B". You can safely assume that, musically, there's something for everyone. The DJ Stole My Girl is the first promotional single from the project.
