My music started as a "let's see what happens" type thing and quickly evolved into "let's keep this going." I released my first album in 2014 after forcing myself to finish songs that I started, and I ended up with the 12 songs that became Start (The First Album). I didn't expect much from this but within the first year, the album made a little over $5,000. I knew releasing music under my birthname Sam Smith would be a risk but I didn't expect that kind of a turnout. I released a Christmas song in an orchestral style called A Christmas Timeline and an EP called The Electronic EP. After this, I knew that if I wanted to get anywhere further with my music, I needed to be my own man as much as possible, and that meant changing my name. I changed my name to Jakob Vladimir so the confusion that came with my last name would no longer happen. I even spelled Jakob with a "k" instead of a "c" so as to really eliminate all chances for confusion. After that, I released a single titled At the Heel of the Ruler and continued to make progress on recording my second album. In November I will be releasing my newest single Death Wish. It will be the first song I ever published that wasn't an instrumental.
